March 2022 Leafly HighLight: Mimosa variety

Spring is coming, we swear. It’s time to shed the sleepy cookie burdens and gather energy and anxiety relief for the warming months ahead. I’m talking about popping bottles of lemony sativa hybrids, ladies; starting with national favorite Mimosa – our Leafly HighLight for March 2022.

As of 2018 alone, Mimosa has received an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 845 Leafly reviewers. Because, duh, people like weed that smells like sparkling orange sunshine and makes their brain feel the same way.

The reviewers are also fairly consistent:

  • “Great for waking up and baking before any high energy activity!”
  • “Mimosa, you’re such a happy high, I’m grabbing a lifetime supply. You all run and grab the rest. This bubbly is by far the best, cheers.”

Mimosa leads a modern pack of upbeat citrus hybrids. A day bowl can take the drudgery out of chores without making you a space case. She is high in THC but relatively friendly to newcomers. The variety goes well with the cool winter sun, real mimosas or Bloody Marys, coffee, music and gossip. Write later haikus:

Mimosa – so great.

Mimosa blends the best of two all-star strains – Clementine and Purple Punch F2. This combines genetics from four key families: Crockett’s Tangie with Lemon Skunk from DNA Genetics and GDP with Larry OG. They were created by Village/Symbiotic Genetics of Sacramento, California and introduced to the culture by Jungle Boys of Los Angeles. Symbiotic remains active and dominant in the breeding game, with Mimosa v6 crosses hitting the market in 2022. Seeds of Horror has the original strain for sale.

Mimosa has won five awards in 2017-2019 alone. In 2017, the strain won the influential Chalice Cup in San Bernardino, California, winning 1st place sativa, 1st place in concentrates, and best flower overall. Every year the strain or its relatives win, place or rank well in competitions.

mimosa terpenes

Leafly Highlight March 2022 Mimosa(Leaf)

Mimosa is lumped in with other strains high in the aroma molecule myrcene, but reviewers don’t find it comforting. The pinene and caryophyllene terpenes, as well as others, likely play a role in her aroma and effects.

Tangie

Even safer than Mimosa, meet the mother of modern citrus – Tangie. She shares a similar look, smell, and effect, but is even more basic thanks to her breeders, the legendary Crockett Family Farms of California. Almost every store has a tangie or cross.

Zlushi

This 2022 aficionado version of Mimosa delivers an unforgettable, mouth-enveloping, syrupy fruity smell and taste. Top Mendocino County breeders Terphogz crossed their refined original Z cut – dubbed “Z3” – with their private Mimosa selection. Zlushi is a functional yet exotic hybrid that will keep you cool and angry.

Purple punch

Did the brunch take a long time? Close the club with Purple Punch – also very popular, pretty and approachable. The Village and Supernova Gardens have married GDP to Larry OG so you can take a lazy, hazy afternoon nap in the sun on the lawn with a West Coast IPA and a few tunes.

See you in April next month for another Leafly HighLight.
