Make this amazing dessert with cannabis

The heat wave is unrelenting, making for muggy days and warm nights. Why not enjoy a cool, refreshing dessert in a variety of ways to relax? A recent trend was Thai Rolleis. Why not make this amazing dessert with cannabis? Thai Rolled Ice Cream is exactly what it sounds like: little ice rolls, about the size of a quarter roll, packed into a cup and then topped with all sorts of extras like toasted marshmallows, jelly beans and coconut and of course hot fudge.

Given its composition, rolled ice is the best choice for the infusion. The possibilities are endless as you can add the cannabis to almost any topping, sauce or ingredient that you would add to ice cream anyway. You can make it in the base or shred and spread just about any edible you can think of, from gummy worms to brownies.

Cannabis Rolled Ice Cream

Deliveries:

  • Half a liter of gelato, soft
  • Cannabis blends (Oreos are great here!) – or – ½ tsp glycerin tincture*

Tool:

  • Plastic spatula or rice scoop
  • Silpat
  • baking tray
  • freezer
  • Serving bowl for cooling

Okay, it’s worth pointing out that instead of making a rolled-up ice cream cone, you can just stick a spoon in the pint and enjoy, but if you’re looking for some fun and whimsy, read on. Those who fancy can make their own ice cream base, which takes away the wait for the ice cream to soften, but is certainly messier and leaves more room for error. Choosing gelato instead of American ice cream gives you more leeway as the gelato has a softer and smoother texture due to the higher fat content.

First, place the serving bowl, silpat, and baking sheet in the freezer for 30 minutes. Let the gelato soften, but don’t melt it completely or become liquid. Remove all utensils from the freezer except for the serving bowl. Put a double portion on the silpat and crush the ice with the scrapers. Quickly add either the cannabis tincture or an edible that has been broken up into small pieces.

Quickly smooth the mixture into a ½ inch thick layer and place in the freezer. Freeze for about an hour. Remove from the freezer with the serving bowl. With the scraper or rice scoop, start pushing the tool down at a 45-degree angle while scraping through the layer of ice. These buns form quickly and the cool serving bowl ensures they get to the person who’s about to eat them.

*Cannabis Glycerin Tincture

Decarboxylate one eighth of finely ground cannabis by heating it in an ovenproof and tightly sealed container to 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Place cannabis and glycerin in a jar or vacuum-sealed bag and place in a just-below-simmering water bath for 1-3 hours. Strain into a dropper bottle and dose 1-5ml or use in recipes. The preparation of this fashionable dessert requires some time, but is not too complicated.

Ironically, so does waiting in line for the ice and then racing to photograph it before it melts. If you dose it with THC, you’ll become a legend to everyone you serve it to.
