Ulysses Youngblood, founder of Major Bloom in Worcester, Massachusetts, understands this first -hand. His journey is not only an entrepreneurship, but also by empowerment, shaped by personal experiences with cannabis and the obligation to raise the neighborhood around him.
From inspiration to impact

Cannabis was involved in Ulysses' life at a young age. With three older sisters who were enthusiastic consumers, his curiosity about the plant – and the culture that surrounds it – became quick. What started as an intrigue soon became an unshakable passion, but his journey to possession was not without challenges.
Ulysses was excluded from the College Ass were excluded in 2008 for marijuana-related crimes and was on a crossroads. But instead of having it defined, he used it as a motivation.
“I became from the assumption that Massachusett's cannabis decriminalized,” he recalls. “I carefully observed the regulatory changes and knew that cannabis became more mainstream – and that one day I want to be part of it.”

Set the stage: Worcester's Cannabis Evolution
Before Major Bloom opened, Worcester had already started to take on the idea of cannabis companies. As the second largest city in New England, it had a growing population and a regulatory framework that was open to pharmacies. For Ulysses, Worcester not only offered legal support, but also the type of community that was organized with his vision.
“We work in a low -income neighborhood with a majority reduction,” explains Ulysses. “Many people here were affected by prohibitions and war against drugs. We have deliberately selected this location to do our part as a good neighbor and to reverse the damage caused by these social problems.”
In contrast to other cannabis companies that visited top-class areas, Ulysses and his team believed that their business could have the most important effect in a community that needed the most urgent.
While other cannabis companies were looking for trendy areas, Ulysses saw the opportunity to invest in a community that had been damaged by the ban.
Break stigmata, build bridges
Since the opening of his doors in August 2021, Major Bloom, who led by Ravon Williams Ravon Williams, has quickly become more than just a pharmacy. The community's reaction was overwhelmingly positive, and Ulysses and Ravon owe this success to concentrate on being a good neighbor.
“We are part of a network of local companies. Next to us is a spirits business, a local bar on the other side of the street and a deli directly down the road,” says Ravon. “We fit directly into the neighborhood. People come here, grab their weeds and then walk along the street to eat for lunch or drink something.”
This synergy is an essential part of Major Bloom's business model. Beyond Retail, Major Bloom, creates a niche by producing educational content and promoting discussions about cannabis. In their podcast, infused influence, all presented on site, from local entrepreneurs to state legislators, bridges generations and cultural gaps and offers perspectives that question outdated stigmata. “We don't just sell cannabis, we create an ecosystem of information, lifestyle and advocacy,” emphasized a co -founder.
While social media restrictions make it difficult to spread their message through traditional digital marketing, the company develops direct solutions such as a mobile app to hire customers on their own conditions. “I am grateful for the support of the community,” reflects Ulysses. “But there is still so much to do. We are just starting and our goal is to be part of something bigger – something that brings people together and returns the community that helped us.”
