Is marijuana the reason the Barbie cast is so chilled?

“Wake up and see the glitter” is a popular Barbie phrase, but maybe Barbie is so popular and cool because it’s a bit like a green glitter. Barbie (and her “parent” Mattel) should be happy because she made over $2 billion last year, and that’s not even counting the movie that hit theaters this year. The iconic figure has been everything from a doctor to a disco queen, and people continue to adore her.

Of course, with all the pressure to make money, look good, and be great, she might take some time to enjoy an edible and relax. Ken could use a vape while he contemplates not getting a house because of his good looks, perfect hair and just-right tan.

The Barbie film is slated to premiere in July and clips show it will be a fun ride for viewers. But how relaxed is the cast?

Ryan Gosling

The six-pack gosling has made a name for itself in films like La La Land, Remember the Titans and Crazy Stupid Love. An undisguised marijuana fanatic, his picture in Cannes enjoying a joint has become a favorite meme. A fun-loving, impulsive guy, he bought Tagine, a Beverly Hill restaurant that has become a popular hotspot.

Will Ferrell

Veteran actor Ferrell’s films include Christmas Darling Elf, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and The Lego Movies. He is an SNL graduate and founded the comedy website Funny or Die with his writing partner Adam McKay in 2007. From toking with Snoop Dog and Vince Vaughn to regular weed memes, he’s definitely one of the main contenders for chill awards. Our favorite line of his is, “Smoking weed doesn’t make me a bad person, just like going to church doesn’t make me. You’re a good person.”

Margot Robbie

Robbie is an award-winning actress whose roles include I, Tonya, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Suicide Squad. Australian human rights, women’s rights, gender equality and LGBT rights advocate, standing up for her beliefs. While she hasn’t said anything publicly about cannabis, we do know that she loves tequila and a good time. In 2016, she opened SNL with a beautiful marijuana floral dress that caught the audience’s attention.

Kate McKinnon

Kate McKinnon was a breakout star from SNL and continues to show off her talents in films, as a writer and as a singer. Her SNL skits have become part of stoner history and she has a wide and diverse fan base. She doesn’t smoke marijuana, but tried it while in college. While she’s not a big drinker, her comedic talent is intoxicating.

In the pink world of Barbie, everyone is calm, happy and living their best life… which seems to be why legal recreational cannabis has become so popular. As she would say (and the consumer would agree): “Find the beauty in everything you do.”
