In May it is time to plant marijuana and chrysanthemums

From backyard gardens to rooftop terraces, now is the time to play chrysanthemums and cannabis

Spring is here and now is the time for gardeners to get out there and start planting. From backyard gardens to kitchen cabinets to rooftop decks, little seedlings are put in the ground and hope that something good will come out of it. Since you want to grow something beautiful and useful, May is the time to plant marijuana and chrysanthemums. Both are short-day plants and can bring joy to your large, medium or small garden.

Both plants require at least 6 hours of full sun, plenty of water, and oxygen-rich soil. Additionally, planting garden buds next to cannabis plants can boost terpenes, repel pests, and mask unwanted odors. Chrysanthemum flowers contain a chemical called pyrethrin, a natural ingredient found in many pesticides. Pyrethrin causes a disruption of the insect's nervous system, making these colorful flowers as useful as they are attractive. Additionally, chrysanthemums have a scent that brings them close to their daisy family connections. They emit a spicy scent all their own.

When you're ready to plant, if it's a seedling (in a 4-inch pot), first dip the plant in a solution of liquid seaweed or root stimulator. Then dig the hole, sprinkle in a balanced fertilizer mix, and fill with good soil. (Alternatively, you can sprinkle fertilizer in a ring around the plant after planting.) Some people swear by fish fertilizer. It's a little fussy, but it can do the job.

Next, cut a few lower leaves from the plant and plant it deeply so that the bottom of the stem is below the soil. More roots will grow from the stem. Finally, water the plant thoroughly, watering all around the stem and being careful not to get any water on the leaves.

Then let them grow and mature, cannabis 57-84 days and marigolds about 45-70 days. Water in the morning and keep tools clean to avoid pests and fungal diseases. Drip irrigation works well to keep water away from the leaves.

In the heat of summer, you may need to water the plants twice a day, especially for plants in containers. Another important way to maintain the beautiful appearance of your chrysanthemums is to remove the spent flowers before they die completely. Watch the plants daily for signs of pests or diseases and always use organic sprays or soapy water.

When they are ripe, pick them and enjoy them knowing that you have created this little piece of joy yourself!
