If you’re growing weed illegally, make sure you cover these 6 things before you start!

While many places around the world are beginning to relax their restrictions on cannabis, there are still many places that have laws against home growing. This has forced many growers to conduct illegal cannabis cultivation operations, and while the vast majority of them go unnoticed by law enforcement, some of these cultivation operations are very public.

For example, this illegal grow operation in Indiantown, Florida was discovered after it caught fire due to a power outage. Inside, more than 600 fully grown plants were destroyed. This story is neither new nor unprecedented – ever since cannabis went mainstream, many cannabis enthusiasts and black market players have thought, “Why not grow weed for money!”

While it is certainly a method of making money, you would simply have to be willing to risk your freedom in order to achieve it. Personally, I never encourage people to grow cannabis unless they are aware of the fact. I personally believe that being able to grow any plant on the planet is a basic human right and the fact that the government says it’s “illegal” doesn’t make it ethical or correct. With drug prohibition, the government is telling you, “You can’t grow nature” because nature can get you high. Nonetheless, if you are not willing to give up your freedom to grow cannabis – YOU SHOULD NOT GROW CANNABIS. If you do it anyway, you might as well do it right. In the following article, we cover the key points on how to grow cannabis illegally without getting caught.

Get some good lighting!

Illegal producers often try to set up their own electrical system at home. While the risks are greatly reduced in minor surgeries, the risk of short circuits increases significantly when you start using higher powered lights. This is especially true if you are automating the system with hydroponics, humidifiers, temperature control, exhaust fans, etc.

If you’re not 100% sure how to properly set up a grow facility’s wiring, I highly recommend experimenting until you get it right before starting to implement it in your illicit grow. That means testing them, learning about electricity, insulation, proper grounding, circuit breakers, etc. It may take some time to master this knowledge, but in the end it will be useful for all future grows.

If you just don’t have the brains to wire it – then find someone who does and ask them to help you. You may have to lie about why you need the wiring, maybe you’re growing “tomatoes”? Nonetheless, you want to be sure that if you run this operation on automation, it won’t spark and burn down the neighborhood.

Maximize production in the smallest of spaces

Unless you’re growing for profit, you’ll want to optimize the smallest space to produce the greatest amount of cannabis. In these cases, it’s far better to have better quality than quantity while aiming for the greatest possible quantity you can get per square foot. Learning techniques like shwazzing, SCROGGING, and SUPER CROPPING can all help increase yield per plant. Additionally, if you are able to have a dual chamber (one for flowering and the other for growing), you can set up a conveyor system where you sprout new seeds at different intervals in the supply chain to ensure a consistent supply.

In other words, you’re cutting out 2-3 plants each time you’re ready to move 2-3 plants from the veg stage into the flowering chamber. It takes time for the rhythm to work optimally, but when done right, you can have a harvest cycle that produces a significant yield without having to grow too many plants at once.

Next, you should be aware that cannabis smells. If you’re afraid of being spotted, you should look into carbon filters and make sure they work well. Many growers have met their demise due to the sheer stench emanating from their flowering chambers. Definitely invest in some exhaust fans and maybe consider planting some aromatic plants nearby to hide the smell.

Don’t talk about it…

If it’s illegal, let it be a secret. The more people you let on to the fact that you’re growing weed, the greater the chance that one of them will spill the beans on someone they shouldn’t be talking to. Therefore, by keeping the operation as secret as possible, you increase your chances of being caught. As a good rule of thumb, only invite those who are willing to take the fall if they break. Finding people who are trustworthy and won’t sell you out isn’t easy – but if you have a group of people who are growing to supplement their own consumption – then find people who understand the risks and are willing to take the Taking blame on names (and vice versa) is of paramount importance.

Build in a self-destruct mechanism…

If you get caught and want to reduce the penalty, it’s a good idea to have a record of extermination. One option is to have a couple of blenders handy with some water. Cut the plants into pieces, put them in the blender with a little water and puree! Take the mixed mixtures and flush them down the toilet. For this reason, it is of course practical to have a manageable amount of plants. If you got your extermination protocol on point, you could easily get rid of 10-12 plants in a matter of minutes.

Illegal cultivation isn’t the goal, but some people will do it anyway. These tips will greatly reduce your chances of getting caught.
