How To Make Marijuana Lemonade With Lemons (And More)

So far July has had the two hottest days on record and people are melting away. Nothing says summer and cool relaxation like the tart, sweet taste of lemons. Cool, crisp and refreshing, they bring the soul to a comfortable temperature.

Lemonade and lemon bars are some of summer’s favorite treats. So how about a summer marijuana edible or drink? Lemons and other citrus fruits have traditionally been used as antidotes to the effects of cannabis on the body. The reason lies in a terpene called limonene. It is one of the most common terpenes. It is the main component of various citrus oils (orange-lime, lemon, grapefruit). Limonene is also found in certain lemon-scented cannabis strains. It is considered an uplifting terpene that can induce feelings of euphoria and calm.

LIFTING LEMON BAR

This recipe has marijuana in the crust. If you don’t have or don’t want to make cannabis butter (recipe in the link), you can get some cannabis sugar from your local pharmacy. Simply replace one teaspoon of cannabis sugar with regular sugar.

For the crust:

1/2 Cup butter melted

1 tablespoon cannabis butter melted

1/4 Cup granulated sugar

1 Cup Flour

1/8 teaspoon Salt

For the lemon filling:

Zest of a large lemon

1 Cup granulated sugar

1/4 Cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 tablespoon Flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

2 eggs

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F and line the bottom of an 8×8″ pan with parchment paper.

  • For the base, mix together the melted butter, cannabis butter, and sugar. Add flour and salt and stir until well combined.

  • Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside.

  • For the lemon filling, combine the lemon zest and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add lemon juice, flour and baking powder. Then mix in the eggs. Pour the lemon mixture over the crust.

  • Bake for about 25 minutes or until the filling has set. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before dusting with icing sugar.

Be careful with the amount you eat. Select ahead of time and save the rest to share or have later. You can store extra cannabis lemon bars in the freezer. Make sure they are cool, wrap in cling film, store in an airtight container and place in the freezer. Simply bring the lemon bars to room temperature to enjoy again.

LEMONADE WITH A KICK

To do this, you need three simple ingredients: lemon juice, cannabis sugar or cannabis tincture, and regular sugar. Homemade cannabis sugar is great, but buying it from a pharmacy saves you the hassle or you can get a cannabis tincture that works too.

Squeeze fresh lemons for the lemon juice

Pour the lemon juice into your favorite tall glass.

Add the white sugar.

Add the cannabis sugar or tincture

Add water and stir well.

Fill the rest of the glass with ice

Remember not to be too thirsty and overindulge!
