How to grow weed the old school way
As a continuation of our guide to old school cannabis growing, follow this week’s guide to growing cannabis and learn how to grow old school weed!
Step 1: harvest (continued)
The first step is to prune the cannabis plant out of the ground. Cut or saw the stem (base of the plant) and remove the whole plant from the ground.
Step 2: air dry
Next, find a dry, cool, dark room with a decent airflow. You can put a fan in the room to keep the air moving. Now hang the entire plant upside down with a string. The whole plant contains THC, including the stem. When you hang your plants upside down, the sap of the entire plant will pull into the buds as it dries.
It has to dry for about three weeks to a month, depending on the variety. Watch until the buds feel firm.
Step 3: trim
Next, you can cut all the branches off the stem. Discard the stem. Now you have branches with suckers and buds.
Start by identifying the bud from the leaves. Then cut off the teat leaves (the shake). You can dispose of the shake or grind it to smoke, even though it contains much less THC.
Next, cut the leaves around the bud. You should trim them evenly to the bud. Don’t waste grass when trimming! There is a common misconception that you need to trim the leaves just short of the bud to make them look more handsome. However, this only wastes good weed. The small leaves in the center of the bud contain just as much THC as the buds themselves, especially those with crystallization. Here is a picture that advises what to cut. Let the rest smoke.
All that’s left to do is collect the buds and enjoy a happy, old-fashioned 4:20!
