How to buy weed online for Ontario delivery
What you need to know:
- You can buy up to 30 grams at a time
- You need a residential address (non-commercial)
- You need a valid photo ID (not expired)
- Card payments only, no cash
The personal cannabis retail experience can be fantastic – I love visiting different dispensaries in my area. I remember walking into a cannabis retail store for the first time felt like a kid in a candy store. But sometimes you just want your weed delivered like a pizza.
You browse this digital menu, order online and cannabis products show up at your door. Canadians used to have to wait for weed to be mailed through Canada Post. Now consumers can have cannabis delivered right to their door (same day in most urban areas).
It’s easy, it’s easy, it’s fast. And now, supplying cannabis in Ontario is a permanent option for independent retailers. So how do you order weed online for delivery?
Step one: Choose your shop
There are many ways to order weed for delivery in Ontario. First you need to choose your provider. In addition to the government-run Ontario Cannabis Store, there are now a number of independent retailers that supply.
Larger multi-location retailers have the incentive (and income) to support their own delivery services. Over the past year, Fire & Flower, Canna Cabana, and House of Cannabis have all launched multi-location delivery services.
When you’re not scrolling through multiple websites to find the perfect product, check out the Leafly Delivery Portal. It collects menus from pharmacies in your city so you can see what’s in stock, all in one place.

Step two: fill your shopping cart
We all know this is the fun part. Will you go for the good old-fashioned cannabis flower? Or is it the perfect time to wet your pipe with something new, like gummies or a vape cart? The sky is the limit! (Well, actually 30 grams per order is the real limit.)
Step three: wait for your weed to be delivered
No matter where you order your products, as soon as you checkout you will receive a confirmation and a delivery estimate. In certain areas of Ontario, delivery can take anywhere from 1 hour to a full day.
Some cars allow you to add a tip for the driver and budtenders at checkout. If not, have some cash ready if you want to show your appreciation. When the Bud arrives you must have current government issued photo ID to show you are of legal age.
Some stores may also require that you see the card you paid with as additional verification (which is good to know if you’re sending the weed as a gift to another adult).
Frequently asked questions about delivery
How much is weed delivery?
Delivery fees can vary from zero to $20 depending on the service and order size. Some cannabis retail stores also have minimum order quantities for delivery.
How long does delivery of weed take?
This can be same hour, same day or next day depending on the chosen delivery service. Retailers set their own delivery windows and opening times vary based on availability.
How much tax should I expect to pay for cannabis delivery?
Cannabis is taxed at both the federal (excise) and provincial levels in Canada. I’d love to write that weed is taxed at a flat rate, but it’s not that simple. Cannabis taxes are complicated mathematical equations based on province and product. Don’t worry, we’ll calculate the taxes for you at checkout.
Do I need my medical marijuana card to get weed delivered?
Medical cannabis in Canada is a different system and is not sold in retail stores (or available for delivery through Leafly). If you are thinking of using cannabis for a medical problem, you should consult a doctor. There are a number of excellent and respected cannabis clinics across the country.
How much should I tip cannabis couriers?
Tipping is optional but always appreciated. 20% is always nice when you get great service. Some retailers even allow you to add a tip prior to delivery if you don’t have cash on hand.
