How Much Weed Was Sold in the Top Selling Cannabis States? Arizona & Michigan break records again

Arizona continues to break records in cannabis sales with another milestone of over $ 1.23 billion in marijuana products sold in the first 11 months of 2021, writes Arizona Mirror.
After a record high of nearly $ 58 million in October, sales of recreational cannabis for adults hit a new high in November, exceeding $ 60 million for the first time. On the medical side, sales fluctuated over the year after hitting $ 73 million in March and April.

In October, estimated cannabis sales for both programs were within $ 7 million. With the state levying a 16% excise tax on recreational sales in addition to standard sales tax, cannabis sales made a solid tax contribution last year.

In November, recreational marijuana sales taxes were approximately $ 5.05 million, slightly higher than the medical cannabis tax of $ 5.03 million.
Arizona voters approved the use of recreational cannabis in November 2020. According to the New York Times and The Associated Press, 59.9% of Grand Canyon state voters voted “yes” to Proposition 207, called Smart & Safe.
Michigan cannabis sales continue to boom
Meanwhile, Benzinga’s home state of Michigan ended 2021 with a strong December in cannabis sales, up 66% year-over-year to $ 168 million.
Medical cannabis sales declined 17% year over year to $ 32.9 million, according to data from the Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency. Adult sales rose 119% over the same period to a record $ 135 million, a sequential improvement of 12%.

Sales of flowers and ornamental plants accounted for 56% of the total market, which was in line with the previous two months but lower than the 57% in the third quarter and 58% in the second quarter.
Additionally, adult cannabis flower prices saw a dramatic 47% year-over-year decline and 3% year-over-year decline to $ 2,958 a pound.
In 2021, combined revenue increased 82% year-to-date to $ 1.79 billion.
