how long will you be high

A question and fear of many canna-curious and novice cannabis users is how long you will stay high. Even seasoned cannabis users were surprised as it is not an exact science. The good news is that you may be a bit disconcerted by your excitement at this point, but chances are you will survive the experience unscathed. But maybe the possibility of dropping dead isn’t your biggest concern. Maybe you’re supposed to be picking up the kids from school, going to work, or some other task where a sober head is better.

Well fear not, we’ve got you. The duration of a high really depends on how much marijuana was used, in what form, and personal tolerance. The following information is designed to help you set a timeline for when you expect to be straight again.

Smoking is still the most common form of consumption. The effects are almost instantaneous and can last anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the potency of the herb. So don’t worry, you still have plenty of time to sober up before pursuing any of your chores you may have in the afternoon. But in the interest of full disclosure, you’ll probably still feel a little uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Descending from a high can leave you feeling tired and less motivated than usual.

vaping

Comes into play second most. It also makes sense. More convenient than rolling a joint or packing a bowl, they’re easy to stealthily attack in almost any situation. But the THC extracts used in these little devils can sometimes have an effect. However, it is not typical that the high produced from vaping lasts much longer than from smoking. In many cases, people who use vape don’t absorb as much THC as they do when using flower. Therefore, one can expect the mind to become more sober within a few hours of use. It is also conceivable that sooner or later the high of an e-cigarette stick will wear off.

This thing called dabs (shatter, wax, budder) is something else entirely, and has been described by some as smoking an entire joint in one hit. These concentrated products are arguably one of the quickest ways to get extremely stoned. But while experienced dab stars can use it with ease, newcomers have been known to struggle. The high that comes from a dab can last from a few to several hours. If you’re having trouble reading this paragraph, you may find it challenging.

food and beverages

Edibles are great for cannabis users who don’t enjoy smoking. In fact, gummy bears are the most popular way to consume them. Edibles can be difficult to use in terms of dosage. These pharmacy-bought products are labeled with what is considered an appropriate dose – the standard is 10 mg THC. But when someone gets a homemade edible brownie from a friend at an event, the THC content is unclear.

However, for the sake of argument, let’s assume that the dosage is known. You took a 30 mg edible in the morning and hoped to be bolt upright in a few hours. Well, that probably won’t happen. At least mostly not. Edibles take up to an hour to kick in, and the high seems to last much longer than smoking.

In fact, it’s not uncommon for even a modest dose of an edible to last anywhere from 8 to 12 hours. Higher doses can make a person feel like they will never be sober again. It’s also worth noting that cannabis-infused beverages have been hit harder than traditional edibles. The product may only claim to contain 10mg of THC, but be warned: it will feel a lot stronger.

Hopefully this gives you a little more clarity on how long you’re going to stay high.
