High Times Cannabis Cup Illinois: The 2023 People’s Choice Edition begins

The time has come, so pack your bowls and light your torches, and if you’re a brand with the best, may the odds ever be in your favor. The High Times Cannabis Cup Illinois: People’s Choice Edition is coming to town. For over 35 years, High Times Cannabis Cup events have showcased – often imitated but not duplicated – the best cannabis and cannabis products in the world. But like all People’s Choice events, the Judge Kits are open to the public.

The High Times Cannabis Cup Illinois: People’s Choice Edition aims to identify and honor the finest cannabis products across Illinois that represent the many facets of cannabis across a variety of categories to be judged by the great people of the Prairie State. This year, new concentrate and edible categories have been added to the mix to make it even better.

This event will be the fourth ever competition open to the public in Illinois and will feature one of the largest judging panels in history. This is a sampling dream if you are a connoisseur of exquisite cannabis profiles.

In three categories, new floral products as well as enriched and non-enriched pre-rolls will face the city’s novelties. However, if you’re looking for concentrates, solvent-free and non-solvent offerings will be as competitive as edibles, vape pens, sublingual tablets, capsules, and tinctures. Floral and other products are judged on the aesthetics/visual appeal of the product, not packaging, as well as aroma/fragrance, flavor/flavor profile, combustibility, potency/potency, and terpene profile.

Last year at the High Times Cannabis Cup Illinois: People’s Choice Edition, notable winners included the unforgettable and psychedelic Fig Farms (Purple Fig x Animal Mints 199 #4, First Place Sativa Flower) flavored lavender and confetti cake flavored Figment, which is available now popping up in the Illinois market, and RYTHM Brownie Scout (Platinum Girl Scout Cookies x Kosher Kush, First Place Indica Flower), which “exhibits an incredibly intense surge initially and then dives into a jubilant indica trance.”

Among last year’s concentrate winners, Revolution Cannabis’ Gorilla’d Cheese Rosin (GG#4 x Clementine, First Place Concentrates & Extracts) stood out for its cheesy, earthy flavor with limonene, beta-caryophyllene, beta-myrcene, linalool, and more elements.

Contest product entries will be accepted August 7-11 throughout Illinois. Judge Kits will be available Saturday, August 19th across Illinois, including Official Recording Partners RISE Dispensary, nuEra and Zen Leaf. Judges simply log into the judging portal and select the appropriate event to start judging. The judging period closes on October 22nd and on November 5th the winners will be announced via the Digital Awards Show.
