GOP lawmakers urge Biden and Harris to end the silence on cannabis legalization

On Thursday, Republican lawmakers Dave Joyce (R-OH) and Don Young (R-AK), both co-chairs of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus, sent a letter to President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris urging the government to stop cannabis under federal law, reports marijuana moment.
The letter discusses the limitations caused by the Appendix I classification of marijuana for the treatment of a wide range of patients, including those with cancer as well as veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Lawmakers Joyce and Young interviewed the federal government for denying access to innovative, proven (and in many cases) safer alternatives.
“As both legislatures continue to discuss the merits of various sensible proposals on cannabis reform and a complete end to the federal ban, there is growing bipartisan support, the absence of your government in these debates and the lack of action which is inconsistent.” that you have made on the subject is seriously questionable, “it says in the letter.

“Every day that cannabis is over-planned, patients and researchers in the United States continue to lose access to life-saving therapies and data,” lawmakers wrote.
In addition, they found that the continued classification of cannabis in Appendix I “brings the US far behind many of our international partners and scientific competitors.”
