G Pen Elite II Review: Everything you need to know

G Pen is a mid-range vaporizer brand with a product range that includes a unique variety of concentrate and dry herb vaporizers at relatively affordable prices. Aside from a few hyper-specific, decorative glass rigs on the GPen website, not only is the line of vaporizers fully portable, but they all come part and parcel with discreet, custom-made hemp carrying cases.

The latest addition to the brand’s arsenal is the G Pen Elite II, an updated version of the original Elite, its largest portable dry herb vaporizer. The Elite II features a high-resolution LED display, puff-activated temperature control, WiFi connectivity to track usage, and smooth haptic feedback, all resulting in a product that feels more accessible to patients and recreational users alike.

Here’s everything you need to know about the GPen Elite II.

What is the G Pen Elite II?

The Elite II is a portable dry herb vaporizer with a large ceramic chamber, zirconia coil path, vapor-cooling mouthpiece, comprehensive temperature controls, and a high-visibility LED screen that occupies almost a third of the front of the device and displays both temperature and battery life Life.

The considerably deep head (0.25 – 0.5 grams) is another attractive trait, especially for the established high tolerance cannathusiast.

How does it work?

The Elite II has very basic functionality. There are three buttons on the top of the device: the power button and both a (+) and a (-) button sit in a clean, ergonomic layout.

The Elite II’s heating chamber can be accessed by gently pushing the mouthpiece away from the body of the device. The mouthpiece connects with a magnet and detaches from the chamber with minimal pressure. You can then load your ground herb into the chamber using a packing tool located in the bottom of the unit – be careful not to overload or pack the material. The mouthpiece is then reattached and the device can be switched on.

To wake up the G Pen Elite II, press and hold the power button for three seconds. Then set the temperature using the (+) and (-) buttons. Once you’ve selected your optimal temperature (the unit defaults to 360°F), double-click the power button to begin heating. Haptic feedback and the full-color display warn you when the desired temperature has been reached.

You can then rely on the drawer to keep the chamber at temperature until the material is redeemed. The attached picking/wrapping tool, located at the base of the device, is a borderline necessity for filling the chamber as well as cleaning the spent herb.

The device will turn off after five minutes of inactivity or can be turned off by pressing the power button for three seconds.

How to use the G Pen Elite II

To change settings for LED screen brightness, haptic feedback strength, display temperature from Celsius or Fahrenheit, and to access firmware, you should wake up the device and then press the power button five times to access access the settings menu.

In the settings menu, use the (+) and (-) buttons to navigate up and down and single click the power button to select. Once the settings have been made, an exit prompt at the bottom of the settings screen will take you back to the heater interface.

changing temperatures

The temperature control feature is one of the highlights of this vaporizer – simply load and activate the device, then use the (+) and (-) buttons below the power button to set your optimal temperature.

The temperature range is 93 – 221 °C (200 – 420 °F).

load

There is a USB-C port at the base of the device and a USB-to-USB-C charging cable is included. The device comes out of the box with approximately 75% charge and a fully charged device in approximately 1.5 hours when not powered.

What’s included?

Every G Pen Elite II comes standard with:

  • A tarmac-colored, custom-made hemp tote bag,
  • A separate – and optional – silicone sleeve to improve handling
  • USB to USB-C charging cable
  • Quick Start Guide
  • A cleaning pick housed on the bottom of the device

cleaning

To clean the chamber, soak a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol, squeeze out excess moisture, and wipe the inside of the ceramic chamber and the screen on the bottom of the mouthpiece. Remove the silicone insert in the mouthpiece and wipe the inside walls.

For a super deep clean, remove the screen from the silicone liner, then remove the spiral ceramic air path and submerge all three liner components—along with the outer zirconia mouthpiece—in isopropyl alcohol. After soaking, remove all parts and rinse thoroughly with water.

After air drying, reassemble the liner and mouthpiece and activate a Void session at the highest temperature on the device to vaporize any residual alcohol

What’s the appeal?

The main appeal of the G Pen Elite II vaporizer lies in its super-specific temperature control, cavernous heating chamber, convenient weight, and highly visible LED control panel.

At $249.95, the Elite II is a relatively affordable option for consumers who want portable dry herb vaporization but are twitching devices that are either too small, blocky, or complex to use.
