Experience the latest Puffco Peak Pro with 3DXL chamber hands-on

There’s a leading portable electronic hash vaporizer – the Puffco Peak Pro – and it’s staying ahead this fall.

The redesigned Puffco Peak Pro ($420) was released in July to celebrate Puffco’s 10th anniversary. It updates the company’s flagship product and shows how Puffco is venturing into uncharted new waters.

Not the completely redesigned model that some had expected, but rather represents the new basis for the top-of-the-line product and offers the best out-of-the-box experience.

Previous Puffco Peak buyers often upgraded to a more powerful 3D chamber and added a custom cap called an atomizer to their hash oven. Now the 2023 Peak Pro includes both the 3D chamber and an improved carburetor cap as standard equipment. Additionally, the glass top bubbler features a new five-hole percolator for cooler, larger hits. Even if the air channel in the floor is the same size, you can notice the stronger chugging when testing the water level.

Additionally, the redesigned base features a softer, molded rubber grip, faster vibration, and two new finishes to choose from: Onyx or Pearl. The Los Angeles-based company has also updated the Hot Knife and Travel Pack in Onyx and Pearl.

You may notice the increased chugging immediately when you test the water level.

The completely redesigned ball cap, which is also called a “joystick” because of its similarity to a handheld controller, works in tandem. The single carburetor jar is no longer present and has been replaced with a metal four carburetor support that sits tightly in a rubber grommet. The improved seal is tight enough to prevent oil from splashing up, but you can still disassemble it for thorough cleaning.

In August, Puffco introduced the 3DXL Chamber ($125) – a 78% larger electronic oven for your hash that results in massive cracks. In addition to a deeper chamber and straw-like joystick cap, the 3DXL also unlocks a new vaping setting for the Puffco app on your smartphone – a new Super Chug mode that easily delivers twice as much vapor as an un-upgraded Peak Pro. Longtime fans will also note that the deeper chamber prevents liquid from entering the device’s internal vapor path and damaging the device.

Most of the time the device works like a Peak Pro. New firmware along with the 3D chamber gives all users access to the “Disco Mode” heating update. There’s also a new in-app steam adjustment option that allows you to adjust the output for each heat setting.

According to Puffco, vapor control “uses a precise formula to maximize the amount of energy transferred into the bowl prior to dabbing. This additional energy – in the form of heat – creates a larger potential surface area for vaporization.”

In addition to more customizable heating controls, Onyx and Pearl also feature a new inhalation feature that triggers a personalized light show as you take your hit.

Is the latest Peak Pro version worth it?

For anyone who owns a current Peak Pro, it’s the seepage glass and joystick where you’ll feel the most FOMO. These items cause Puffco Peak to push huge clouds. For this target group, the decision to switch is similar to an iPhone 14 when the iPhone 15 comes out.

But those getting a Peak Pro for the first time should definitely splurge on this new $420 package compared to the now discounted “base” model. This will save you time when you have to figure out how to upgrade the base unit. The $125 price tag for the 3DXL atomizer – while that’s $50 more than the already upgraded model that comes with this new Peak Pro model – is well worth the money for fans looking the largest possible clouds or like to take large drops.

Onyx and Pearl, the new 3DXL atomizers, as well as the new Proxy travel case, offer fans the latest accessories, app features and look and feel from Puffco, just in time for their annual Puffcon celebration taking place on September 30th in downtown LA .

Get there early as Puffco has a pop-up store at the event where you can find great deals and often special early drops on the latest gear.
