Eighth icon is renamed Cheech and Chong’s Cannabis Company

Eighth Icon Holdings announced in a September 13 press release that it has changed its name to Cheech and Chong’s Cannabis Company, effective immediately. Consolidating the name with the comedy duo’s iconic brand is in line with the company’s mission.

Formerly known as Eighth Icon, the California-based company manufactures wholesale flower brands of cannabis by Tommy Chong and Stash by Cheech – with plans to continue that dynamic. The company has been up and running for less than a year and recently redirected its website to Cheech And Chong’s Cannabis.

“Our team is prepared for the challenge and committed to promoting Cheech and Chong cannabis in the US and around the world. This name change allows for a clear representation of what our company does, ”said Jonathan Black, CEO of Eighth Icon.

Meanwhile, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong have had time to refine and develop their products, several years ahead of most other cannabis brands.

The company also stands behind Cheech and Chong’s Takeout as well as Cheech and Chong’s Dispensoria and offers delivery experiences. Cheech and Chong’s Dispensoria was developed by Eight Icon last year, and Cheech and Chong’s Takeout was developed in response to the sudden need for more delivery options during the pandemic.

In an interview with Cheddar last year, Chong announced a partnership with Five Point Holdings and big plans to open “Cheech & Chong Pharmacies Around the World”.

Cheech and Chong’s cannabis is a family affair

The desire to sell weed is nothing new to Chong – it was the key theme of his comedy duo machine that made him famous in the first place. The duo enjoyed a number of back-to-back gold comedy albums, beginning with Cheech and Chong in 1971. Chong told Rolling Stone that he “got high with every Beatle except Paul.” The duo have participated in regular interviews with The High Times over the years, starting in the 1970s. In the same year his developments in cannabis products advanced.

In 2015, before most of the other celebrities jumped on the bandwagon, Tommy Chong founded Paris Chong’s Choice with his son Paris. Unlike others, getting into the industry has been a lifelong commitment for the comedy duo. Chong’s wife, Shelby, is a senior executive on Cheech and Chong’s Cannabis.

Marin also took a family-oriented approach to the cannabis business. He was accompanied by his daughter Jasmine and son Joey-Dee to personally select strains and work with master breeders to sustainably produce an all-natural selection of high quality cannabis products.

Chong survived two cancer fights, but that only reinforced his belief in the positive medicinal benefits of cannabis.
