Edibles for the Easter basket for adults

Sweets and treats are a part of Easter – but how about some adult fun with special treats?

Easter is full of traditions including sweets and treats. Chocolate bunnies, Peeps and more fill bags and baskets with treats that seem to disappear within days. Consumers spend around $3.1 billion on candy alone over the weekend. But how about something special, perhaps edibles for the adult Easter basket? BDSA, a leading analytics firm covering the cannabis industry, said it was another strong year for the marijuana industry. The reports reflect the growing acceptance of medical marijuana users and the public's increasing acceptance of medical marijuana.

If you decide to add a little something to an adult Easter gift, gummy bears are your first choice. BDSA data shows that 49% of cannabis users have consumed a gummy. They are tasty, easy to dose and discreet. Next would be chocolate edibles, which are easy to use and available at the pharmacy and have a convenient dosage. Chefs have jumped into the game and for some the taste is something you'd buy from a high-end chocolatier. You can also get other flavors including cookies and cream.

A few things to keep in mind when giving a special treat. Most foods contain 2.5-10 mg. If you are new to cannabis, make sure to wait 30-45 minutes after eating to give the body time to absorb the marijuana.

Of course, you can also make special brownies the old-fashioned way. If you do that, you have several options. Cannabutter is a classic choice for marijuana brownies. Simply replace some of the butter requirement with cannabutter. Canna oil is the other option for baking. Like cannabutter, replace the oil in the recipe or increase the amount of oil by mixing it with canna oil.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 3/4 cup cannabutter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 13 x 9 baking pan lined with aluminum foil

Create

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate and cannabutter together
  • After the chocolate and cannabutter have blended smoothly, mix in the other ingredients
  • Make sure the batter is even and ensure the brownie has the perfect consistency and potency
  • Carefully pour your brownie batter into your foil-lined baking sheet
  • Bake for 35 minutes or until edges are set and center is slightly sticky
  • Let cool and serve
