Does this alcohol have beauty benefits?

A new study will delight those of us looking for more ways to improve our skin, especially those who love beer. Researchers in Italy have discovered that various elements found in craft beer could have benefits for our skin due to their antioxidant effects.

The study, carried out by various researchers from the University of Camerino and the University of Bologna, was based on the fact that a high percentage of craft beers are made from ingredients such as hops, malt and yeast and are therefore likely to contain a good amount of antioxidants. Researchers theorized that these elements may be healthy for maintaining skin and preventing premature aging.

The study, published in the journal Cosmetics, found that their theory is correct. The beers in question demonstrated “the ability to improve mitochondrial activity and prevent oxidative stress,” two characteristics common in skin aging. The researchers concluded that “waste from craft beers may be an interesting source of phenols for the production of anti-aging skin cosmetics.”

Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean drinking craft beer can prevent skin aging or make your skin more beautiful. However, it does not disprove this theory, which you should stick to the next time you drink beer.

Although we can’t say with certainty that drinking beer is good for the skin, there are a variety of foods and drinks whose consumption has positive effects on the skin. Healthline mentions foods like fatty fish and avocados that can help keep skin hydrated and supple, prevent inflammation, and maintain collagen levels, a crucial element in maintaining healthy skin.

Aside from the interesting factor of this study, the research shows that experts are considering natural foods, ingredients and organic elements for the benefits of our skin and that in a few years these could be incorporated into skin care products to help us nourish our skin in a healthy and natural way.
