Does the cannabis industry have a new anthem in “Like My Weed” by Jane Hancock and Snoop Dogg?
Snoop Dogg’s upcoming album, The Algorithm, has a weed anthem. This song, Like My Weed, already featured on multiple playlists around the world, is by the all-rounder Jane Hancock. At some point you would have heard her name in the media because the R&B singer has ghostwrited several jams over the years. Artists like the beautiful Kelly Rowland and the lithe Raphael Saadiq have written songs by Jane.
Like my grass; A weed hymn to sing along to
This track is well on its way to becoming the weed anthem of this festive season. It’s perfect for a weekend high. Its smooth groove will keep you glowing all day.
Some of the lyrics on the track say “high as the condo / upper floor seasoned coriander”. Elsewhere on the track, Jane can be heard singing that she likes her pot anytime of the day – morning and night. The track also has rap lines about her blowing, and she mentions, “I think I left my wallet and lighter in El Segundo ‘somewhere in the song.
The decision to step into the limelight with this track couldn’t have been a better decision. Everyone knows how well Snoop Dogg, along with other artists like Wiz Khalifa, created the status of a prominent cannabis influencer. As it stands, she couldn’t have chosen anyone better to support her on her way to becoming a star. Jane’s soft voice made the song pop hard. If you’re looking for a good high with background music to cheer on, then this track is for you.
For the ladies
This track is not just for the men, but for everyone in the cannabis world – especially the women who are currently being recognized as an important target group for weed and its products. Women in the US and even around the world are consuming cannabis faster than ever. Even so, they were not portrayed as authentic cannabis enthusiasts. The existing stereotype about real cannabis users is that they are men. While this endured through the 1970s through the early 2000s, women are starting to turn this narrative around.
Snoop Dogg and Cannabis
A quick visit to the star’s Instagram profile reveals a series of photos, videos, and instareels of Snoop either holding a stick or taking a train.
The algorithm isn’t the legend’s first attempt at having a weed anthem. One of the tracks in the project released earlier this year has Snoop rapping about smoking weed in the White House.
In the song, titled “Gang Signs,” the 50-year-old rapper implied that he drank gin and juice while getting stoned with former US President Barack Obama. The text ‘I bet you never blown with Obama’ drew a lot of comments aimed at both the former president and the rapper “Drop It Like It’s Hot”.
Some thought the rap legend added the text as a joke or to boost PR for the published project. Prior to that jam, Snoop also admitted that he once got high in one of the White House bathrooms. The rapper received this admission during his interview as a guest on the Jimmy Kimmel show. Two months after the release of his 18th studio album, Snoop was named Def Jam’s Executive Creative Consultant.
The algorithm
The algorithm is due to be released on November 12th and is a high profile project that will also have some new names. Big names on this project include Mary J Blige, Dave East, Benny The Butcher, Jadakiss, and Fabulous.
Most of this album was recorded in New York studios for invitation only. The West Coast legend said, “We created magic. Everyone did what they had to do to make the algorithm as perfect as ever. ”When he had a vision for the album in mind, he brought in his” boys and girls “in Los Angeles to plan, what the project will look like. When the album plans were presentable, he presented them to the team in his new home, Def Jam. In a very short time, the people at Def Jam understood his plans and shared his enthusiasm.
This project will be the musician’s second album in 2021. This is the first year that Snoop has published two projects in the same year. In April he released From the Streets to the Suites.
Last week the star, who recently lost his mother, hosted a listening session for his upcoming project. During the show, he appreciated his fans for the constant support and love that still showered him during this time of grief. He said that the love he felt during this time strengthened him and made him feel good about himself and his late mother. He added that he is happy to come out and experience the love instilled in him by his mother, which is still given to him by his fans. He repeated that he felt so special even during this difficult time while thanking his fans wholeheartedly.
The party had some notable names in attendance. Music industry insiders and stars gathered in New York City to appreciate good music. According to Snoop, the album is his way of giving his fans a feel, not just a sound. Right now, the current trend is telling music fans to rap or sound in a common way, but nobody tells fans how to feel. The algorithm is supposed to do just that.
The first single on the album was released a few days ago. The track titled “Big Subwoofer” includes Snoop Dogg, E-40, Too Short and Ice Cube. All four belong to a group popularly known as Mount Westmore.
last words
Like My Weed, it could make the list of the best weed anthems ever published by celebrities. Other jams on this list include Blueberry Yum Yum, The Next Episode (which also includes Snoop), Mary Jane, and Wiz Khalifa’s “Still Blazin”. With Snoop Dogg firmly behind this jam, it sure is a classic weed jam.
