Does being in the sun increase your weed high?
When the sun shines, the fun is over…or something like that. But does the blazing sun affect your high?
Summer is here, it's time to put on the shorts and get out there to enjoy the sun. Barbecues, days at the beach or by the water, relaxing by the pool or in the backyard are all part of summer culture. There's usually a cooler full of chilled drinks to either hydrate or get high. With marijuana use on the rise, in some cases even replacing alcohol, the question is, does spending time in the sun enhance your weed high?

You must always be careful when drinking alcohol in the hot sun. Alcohol reduces the release of an antidiuretic hormone (ADH) called vasopressin. This ADH works with your kidneys to keep your fluid levels in balance. It is also a diuretic, which leads to more frequent trips to the bathroom and fluid loss. Now add in the increased sweating caused by the hot sun and you have a recipe for dehydration. Dehydration also makes the high more intense.
Marijuana tends to release endorphins, which make you feel happy, relaxed, and high. These hormones are released when we feel pain or stress. They can also be released by our bodies during pleasurable experiences such as exercising, eating, listening to our favorite music, getting a massage, or having sex.
The sun's UV rays can release those same endorphins. Science concludes that exposure to the sun's UV rays can increase endorphin levels by 30 to 50%. So when you combine sunlight with cannabis' feel-good cannabinoids, it's possible that the mix of these feel-good chemicals could lead to a heightened state of bliss and euphoria.

But while chilling in the sun can intensify the experience, there are a few things you need to be careful of. Getting lost in the joy of heat and sunlight can lead to unexpected sunburn, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. Hydration is also crucial when drinking or consuming marijuana. Water or other electrolyte drinks are important to stay hydrated, especially in the heat.
You can log in and seek shade and a cooler environment so you can still be alive and bake another day.
