Do you suffer from motion sickness? Maybe cannabis or CBD can help
This summer is expected to be a record year for travel. Millions will get in cars, board planes and board cruise ships. “This summer, travelers are clearly ready to ditch their passports and face the jet lag as they head abroad,” he says Melanie FishHead of Brand PR for the Expedia Group.
For those suffering from motion sickness, this is not an exciting prospect. About a third of people suffer from motion sickness at any given time. Women and children between the ages of two and twelve are most at risk. There are medications for motion sickness, but they don’t work for everyone. An effective alternative to these drugs that many people are unaware of is cannabis.

What is motion sickness?
Motion sickness occurs when your brain cannot understand the information sent by your eyes, ears, and body. Exercising a lot — in a car, plane, boat, or even a ride at an amusement park — can leave you feeling queasy, wet, or sick.

For example, if your eyes can’t see the movement, this may send a signal to your brain that movement is occurring. If your other senses can sense the movement and send the information to your brain, the brain is confused.
types of motion sickness
There are three main types of motion sickness:
- Airsickness: This usually occurs when traveling on any aircraft, including airplanes, helicopters, gliders, parametric, and jets.
- Car sickness: This usually happens when you’re getting around in a vehicle on land, most likely a car.
- Seasickness: Seasickness occurs on water, most commonly in boats or ships.
Motion sickness categories
Motion sickness can be divided into three categories depending on the trigger:
- Motion sickness, which is triggered by movement you can’t see but can feel. In this case, while your nerves are sending the right message to your brain, your eyes are unable to do so, resulting in motion sickness.
- Motion sickness, which is triggered by movement you can see but not feel. In this case, while your eyes are sending the correct message to your brain, your eyes are unable to do so, resulting in motion sickness.
- Motion sickness, which is triggered when your hearing and vision systems detect different types of movement. When this happens, they send different signals to the brain, leading to motion sickness.
Motion sickness symptoms
The symptoms of motion sickness are usually not too severe, but they can cause great discomfort. Common motion sickness symptoms include sweating, shortness of breath, drowsiness, nausea and vomiting, pale skin, and yawning. The regular occurrence of this condition leads to more serious problems such as anxiety to travel.
