Delicious candy cake and you can add a weed twist

You buy bowls or buckets of candy and suddenly you have a bin leftover and don’t want to stuff yourself with it for the next week. Why not try something new? You can bake a candy cake and if you want to add some marijuana, you will be left with a “hello weed” cake. This recipe is for a delicious candy cake and you can add a weed twist!

It’s a dangerously delicious concept: Just take a few fun-sized candy bars and make them even more fun by piling them into a cannabutter-slathered pie crust. All you have to do is bake it until melty and gooey to your liking, let it cool briefly and enjoy. Trick-or-treating may be for kids, but this cake will make you proud to be an adult.

Makes 8 servings

● 1 unbaked cake base (homemade or store-bought)

● Approximately 1 pound of Halloween candy

● 2 tbsp plus 2 tsp cannabutter, melted (optional)

1. Preheat the oven to 350°

Have your unbaked pie crust ready.

2. Bush your crust

Using a pastry brush, carefully brush the entire base and inside of your pie crust with the melted cannabutter. Be sure to apply it evenly over the surface, otherwise the party may not be equally fun for everyone.

3. Unwrap a big pile of Halloween candy

I worked with an assorted fun size bag of chocolate treats and used about half of the two pound bag (so about 1 pound of candy). You can use any candy mix you like. Pile the sweets into the cake base. Be sure to distribute the candy evenly. Fill it fairly close to the top of the bowl as the candy will lose some volume as it melts.

4. Bake until candy is melted and crust is toasted

About 35-40 minutes. If you feel like the crust is browning faster than the candy is melting, you can stretch some foil over the edges of the crust.

Note on dosage:

This recipe is “dosed” with 1 teaspoon of cannabutter per serving (3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon). The strength of your final product depends on many factors, including the type of marijuana used and how you made your cannabutter.
