Cop the Jungle Boys Drop to High Times

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great pleasure to inform you all of a new heat that is now available to the cannabis-consuming citizens of California. Just landed at Jungle Boys from the Gods and available for the first time in the entire High Times Market & Delivery ecosystem, you can find all the information about High Times’ first hype drop here.

Let’s take a step back and write down the story

When I first arrived in California in 2014, the cannabis landscape was very different from what it is today. Back then, in the maintenance days before Prop. 64, there were only a handful of real brands on the market. Sure, there have been many growers who have grown great weed, and many have even sold it successfully, but that was before everyone in the industry focused on standing out with a logo or an attractive mylar. Back then, there were few real-deal players, and much of the industry hadn’t even thought about how they wanted to present themselves to the world – they just knew they had weed and consumers wanted it.

While the space was still maturing, there were already some clear frontrunners in the game by then. While California cannabis folklore was flourishing in New York, where I had just moved, there were very few growers in the east who were being screened for names. However, there was one name I knew before I got on the plane out here – what my friends back home told me was the mountaintop as far as premium green is concerned, and that name was the Jungle Boys.

Although I didn’t get here until 2014, it’s important to note that the Jungle Boys had been doing their thing for almost a decade by this point. After opening their first pharmacy in 2005, The Jungle Boys had become a house name for those looking to space in California almost a decade later. With stories of their buds already permeating the east coast and overseas, The Jungle Boys actually became the first real cannabis brand I knew long before I ever entered the burgeoning legal industry.

How happy that I am here now, over seven years later, to introduce you to the five strains from the Jungle Boys’ newest drop! Pinch me!

The fire in the display

The Jungle Boys’ latest drop brings five varieties to High Times menus across California, including Florida Sunrise # 22 (Green Crack x TK BX1), Sour Apple Killer (NBK x Sunset Sherbert x Sour Apple), Mike Larry # 9 ( Gelato # 45 x.) Larry OG F8), Triangle Larry # 1 (Triangle Kush x Larry OG) and Frosted Kush (Frosted Cakes x TK BX1), and honestly just calling these guys fire seems to beat the heat, that we have in our hands here … I would argue that these are closer to molten lava.

After receiving my package late Friday afternoon and of course starting right away, let me just say – this weekend has been a serious blur! While I’m used to smoking the best flowers California has to offer, for those at home it’s worth noting that these ARE NOT entry-level buds – this is the stuff that will make you taste nirvana. If you’ve heard enough and are ready to score, go to hightimes.com/getweed now to change yours, or read on for my thoughts on each strain …

When I received my packs the first thing I tried was to sort them by what I call the “Indica Index”. That means I went through all of the varieties, jotted down their crosses, and arranged them in the order I thought it would be closest to not knocking myself out while I was busy. It was useless because all these kinds of people kicked my ass.

The first flavor I tried, the Sour Apple Killer, lived up to its name. Despite attending around 6pm, it’s worth noting that this strain could also be called ‘Cement Shoes’, as you will surely move more slowly after this strain. With a nose that definitely touches the sour apple candy taste we all knew from our childhood, there is another interesting note in the aroma that reminds me of the flavored sodas you get in amusement parks – an intoxicating sweetness with a hint of funk The end. While the buds are as quaint as anything you’d expect on our site, I have to leave it up to this one because it has an original terpene profile – this flower doesn’t smell like most of the others that the market, and that’s a good thing .

Next up, I broke into Mike Larry. With buds even nicer than the Sour Apple, this plant’s nose is closer to what you’d expect to smell fresh cannabis – earthier and nuttier than the previous specimen, with a much more plant-like feel. While this may seem like a ditch, to me it is what true cannabis should be and what many of the older generation seem to be looking for. It doesn’t look like the smells associated with it are unnatural or that the buds came from another planet. It seems that this is a properly grown flower – the summit of nature. While I know there are many people out there looking for the latest and greatest technological advances to shape their buds, this one is for the die-hard who want to increase the power of their hits without smoking anything, what looks like a new plant.

Having tried the pure, I figured the strain that makes the most sense next is the Larry cross, Triangle Larry. While the Triangle Larry clearly plays out the natural tones of the plant, it has a much livelier nose, with an almost menthol chill at the end. It’s worth noting that the terpene profile of each of these plants clearly stands on its own, and while two of these products are crossed from the same strain, each flower clearly plays in a league of its own. I should also mention here that this was the cleanest high of the bunch in my opinion. While the Triangle Larry still brought with it considerable slowing power, it was also a motivator – it pushed me not only to do the tasks I had delayed but also to keep coming back for a few more hits!

Next up was the Florida Sunrise. I had saved this one for Sunday morning as it is a Green Crack hybrid. While I don’t want to mention that Sunday was the most productive day I’ve ever had, I’d like to say that swimming around in the pool high above the Florida Sunrise was a special treat. Similar to the Triangle Larry, the Florida Sunrise’s nose was just as outstanding, with strong sweet and citrusy touches on the front and an almost minty / menthol finish, and the taste of the smoke was just as pleasant. I would definitely recommend this model for your next day at the beach and remember to invite your crew – you will want to show this off.

Finally, and the choice I remembered for closing this review was the Frosted Kush. This one is a favorite for me, a timeless heavy hitter who will blow you away like it’s your first time, even if you’re the most seasoned smoker on the block. To continue with the unique terpene profiles, this is another one with a strong and refreshing menthol scent that tickles the nose every time. This is the one that – while supposedly a 60/40 hybrid – is sure to slow you down. It’s a good idea to save this for a nightcap, but whenever you’re trying to chill and chill out for a bit, the Frosted Kush will be a strong ally.

Where to buy

All in all, and in case you can’t tell from the heaps of praise above, this is a strong “buy” rating from me. You can’t go wrong with a Jungle Boys cop, and now that High Times not only has stores across the state but also has delivery services that don’t even require you to leave your house to score, it has never been easier to to “play with fire” to yourself.
