Consumers are suing popular marijuana brand for not getting them high enough

A California cannabis company is facing a lawsuit from two disgruntled users. The lawsuit, filed by plaintiffs Jasper Centeno and Blake Wilson, alleges that DreamFields mislabeled its products and ultimately overcharged customers.

The complaint alleges that DreamFields Inc. and Med for America Inc. violated, among other things, California consumer protection laws, including the California Unfair Competition Act and the California False Advertising Act.

DreamFields is one of the most popular cannabis brands in California, proudly selling pre-rolls with above average THC levels.

However, an independent lab test found that was not the case and that DreamField’s Jeeter Pre-Rolls contained less THC than they claimed. The packaging of the pre-rolls states that each joint contained 46% cannabis. A third-party test revealed that the joints contained 23% and 27% THC.

The lawsuit also cites an article by Weed Week that tested premium cannabis pre-roll brands in California. Among them were Jeeter pre-rolls, all of which tested lower THC levels than advertised.

Weed Week found that this problem extends beyond DreamFields. The study found that potency inflation was “nearly ubiquitous” across all brands tested.

In a statement, the plaintiff’s attorney, Christin Cho, argued that the joint prices are based on THC content. “Consumers are willing to pay more for higher-THC cannabis products and expect to pay less for lower-THC cannabis products.”

This line of thinking is echoed by Weed Week, which explains that in a market as competitive as California, THC levels drive sales and is why many people choose one brand over the other.

The cannabis plant is made up of different parts, all of which can affect your high. While THC levels can determine how strong you get, a variety of elements, like the plant’s terpenes, can determine how much fun you’ll have.
