With much fanfare, Ohio has moved up its timeline for adult-use cannabis availability in the state. Instead of a Sept. 7 launch, regulators approved 60 licenses shortly after the window opened on June 7. Some media reported that 62 licenses were issued, but upon closer inspection, two had the same address as the regulator's office in downtown Cleveland and were marked TEST. Those are best ignored. Here's the breakdown of the license types issued:

Interestingly, regulators have approved provisional licenses for the entire value chain:

Of course, part of the sport of our industry is tracking the impact of any action or policy on MSOs. The original list of 60 hides many MSOs as other companies are cited. However, cross-referencing the licenses with their medical license data in the Cannabiz Media Business Intelligence platform sheds light on their footprints:

Acreage and Trulieve expanded their retail presence, while Cresco, PharmaCann and Standard Wellness achieved cycle success and secured licenses across the value chain.

These 60 license permits have been issued to 33 cities so far. 11 of the cities received more than one permit, while Columbus received 10 of them. Here are all the cities with more than one permit:

This will be an ongoing process in Ohio. Jamie Crawford, a spokesperson for Ohio's Division of Cannabis Control, said they had received 235 applications as of noon Friday, June 21. It seems the division is wasting no time getting its adult-use program up and running. Hopefully, it will help the state fend off the illegal market by providing Ohioans with safe places to purchase cannabis.
