Cannacurio #117: Manufacturing license Recap Q2 2025
background
In the last of our reviews in the middle of the year, we turn to the manufacture, which is the least volatile of the three activities that we cover. At Cannabiz Media, we classify a manufacturer as a license holder who processes products infused by cannabis such as food or concentrations, but does not cultivate or sell to customers. These licenses are exhibited less frequently than cultivation or retail licenses.
However, they serve as important assets for companies because the products are often powerful brands. In contrast to license, these brands can exceed state limits and help well -established companies and build market share. They are also useful for the license holder because these facilities can be used for the production of the white label and therefore expand the value of the financial value.
Asper usual, the production licenses were the smallest category in relation to the new license edition. In the second quarter, 235 new licenses were issued in 16 countries. This rose by 34% from 175 in the second quarter.
Key points
- 235 new production licenses were exhibited in the second quarter of 2025, compared to 175 in the first quarter of 2025.
- New Mexico led the ranking list with 91 with New York with 68.
- 16 states granted licenses for this activity in the second quarter of 2025, compared to 15 in the second quarter of 2025.
The following graphics show that in a fairly narrow range of 39 to 96 new licenses with an average of 74.5 new licenses per month are added.
Two states have achieved these figures in the last quarter, with New Mexico and New York made up almost 70% of the new licenses for the quarter.
And here is the overall list of active production licenses in the USA:
Many early states such as Washington, California, Colorado and Oregon populate this top 10 list.
Diploma
The manufacture remains the most stable of the three main types. Around 75 new licenses are exhibited across the country every month. The greatest decline in these licenses is predictable in Oklahoma, which has so far made 87 licenses this year. We expect a large number of new licenses to be in operation and we will report on those in our Q3 posts.
