In 2016, Grove Bags was founded with the aim of developing custom cannabis packaging that effectively preserves and optimizes the unique properties of the plant from cultivation to consumption. To that end, the company’s proprietary film blend, Terploc, and all of its products are tailored to the physiology of the plant and are 100% made in the USA.

Fast forward just four years to 2020 and Grove Bags became the first company in the cannabis industry to win a Dow packaging innovation award. Receiving the Dow Packaging Innovation Award is a prestigious award that recognizes Grove Bags’ packaging breakthroughs.

Just two years later, in 2022, Grove Bags won the Red Dot: Design Excellence Award for developing a new material, TerpLoc Glassless Packaging. The “Red Dot” is a coveted seal of quality that is awarded by an international jury to products of high design quality.

Today, Grove Bags packaging is used in more than 50 countries around the world and Terploc technology is available in a full TerpLoc® Cultivation Suite of packaging solutions.

Cannabiz Media spoke to Chaz Hermanowski, Rocky Mountain Manager at Grove Bags, to learn more about his company and how it is using the Cannabiz Media License Database to grow its business.

Grove Bags subscribes to the Cannabiz Media License Database for two main reasons: 1) to easily connect with license holders across the country and 2) to help their sales team save time and increase efficiency.

“The Cannabiz Media License Database is amazing,” says Chaz. “It does the research for our sales teams so they can focus on selling. Each sales team has a region to focus on. The Cannabiz Media License Database allows team members to focus on specific areas and reach out to people we may not have had on our radar or whose contact information we otherwise would not have been able to obtain. The license database has taken on the central role in our lead generation.”

Grove Bags uses many of the tools offered in the Cannabiz Media License Database not only to find prospects but to market them as well, particularly the built-in email marketing tools. “The database platform is incredible,” says Chaz. “We use the amazing email templates and email template builder to create super aesthetic emails that resonate and help educate people about our company and products.”

Chaz offers Cananbiz Media License Database users two important tips to ensure they are getting the most out of their data and features. First, he says, “Ask your team what tags they want to use to organize and sort their leads, then go to the tags section of the settings in the admin and set them up.”

In addition, Chaz recommends, “Use the filters to refine yourself so you can make your reach more authentic. Customize it by city or county, for example, and then make small changes to the copy of the email message so it resonates that much more with each person.”

What’s next for Grove bags?

Grove Bags works to be a leader in the cannabis packaging industry. Chaz explains, “We’re trying to make Grove Bags the standard in terms of preserving the product itself. We hope to set a benchmark in this area and ensure consumers are protected at the end of the day. By establishing a benchmark or standard for packaging in the industry, it raises the bar for everyone.”
