Cannabis Consumption Friendly Hotel Coming To Las Vegas – Cannabis News, Lifestyle

Finally the time has come. Smoking weed on vacation without fear is finally a thing and it’s coming to Las Vegas! Thanks to a recent change in the law, businesses can now apply for a license for a lounge to use cannabis for commercial purposes. After hearing the news, Pro Hospitality Group took action and bought properties on the Strip. The group plans to open a cannabis-friendly hotel with smoking rooms, a lounge and more. Here are all the details on this exciting new development…

Use of cannabis in Vegas

Until recently, recreational cannabis was legal in Nevada, but consumption lounges were not allowed. Residents were told they could smoke in their homes, but legally tourists could not go anywhere. Many hotels look the other way and allow their guests to smoke weed on their balconies. Now they don’t have to. Thanks to a recent change in the law, pharmacies, hotels and other businesses can now apply for a license for on-site commercial consumption.

Indoor smoking = $$$

Nevada’s indoor smoking regulations are governed solely by money. The economy in Las Vegas depends on tourism and gambling, so the regulations take care of that. Per the Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act, tobacco smoking is prohibited in all indoor facilities; unless it’s a casino, tobacconist, strip club, brothel, or standalone bar. Why that? Because statistically, smokers stay and gamble longer than non-smokers. Casino owners don’t want customers to have to leave to smoke a cigarette because there’s a good chance they won’t come back.

Pro Hospitality Group is coming to Vegas

Pro Hospitality Group bought a 64-room craft hotel off Sahara Avenue and Interstate 15. They paid $11.9 million for the property alone and plan to invest another $3 million in renovations. The veteran and expanding Pro Hospitality Group owns the cannabis-friendly Clarendon Hotel in Phoenix, Arizona, and has plans to open something similar.

Cannabis-friendly hotel amenities

What are the characteristics of a cannabis-friendly hotel? What is the hotel policy for hotboxing? Do you need to bring your own bong? While we don’t know all the final details of the Vegas hotel, we do know what a cannabis-friendly hotel in Phoenix, Arizona looks like.

Cannabis Use Policy

  • Guests can choose either a smoking or a non-smoking room.
  • Dabbing concentrates and smoking flower are allowed in cannabis-friendly spaces, but not in public spaces.
  • Vaping and smoke-free products can be used in outdoor public areas, except for the restaurant terrace.
  • Smoking tobacco products is not permitted in cannabis-friendly spaces. According to the company website, it is due to the “continuous smell and residue”.

Cannabis-friendly hotel amenities

Lounge for consumption of cannabis – In Phoenix, Arizona, the Clarendon Hotel has a smoking lounge open to the public and their guests. Something similar is being built in Vegas, but it’s not yet clear if the lounge will be public.

Cannabis Shuttle – Recognizing the need for access, the Company is establishing a cannabis shuttle service that will take guests to local dispensaries. The shuttle isn’t just a drop off, it waits while guests do their shopping and brings them back when they’re done.

Great for some, life changing for others

The opening of cannabis-friendly hotels is great news for the community, but it means a lot more to some than others. Many medicinal cannabis patients do not travel because they cannot be sure of using their medicine.

Here is an example of such a situation:

Epilepsy is a condition that causes sudden seizures and is often treated with cannabis. When an epileptic patient senses an impending seizure, they need an immediate rapid release of cannabinoids; In many cases, this is enough to prevent a seizure. Sublingual oil works for some, but inhaling cannabis is most efficient. Now imagine you have epilepsy and are trying to plan a vacation to Las Vegas. Bright, flashing lights can trigger a seizure without warning, and Vegas is full of them. Without the assurance that one could smoke if necessary, the trip would not be an option.

After a day on the Las Vegas Strip, what could be nicer than kicking back in bed and smoking a joint? Until recently, this privilege was only available to residents. Luckily the laws are changing…
The first cannabis consumption-friendly hotel is finally coming to Las Vegas!
