Canadian Cannabis Sales Hit Another Record – Which Province Sold The Most?

According to Statistics Canada, cannabis sales in Canada totaled CA$382.4 million ($301 million) in December, up 8.5% from November.

Sales increased by 28.5% year-on-year due to an increase in the number of shops and falling flower prices.

Hifyre IQ has estimated January sales 8% lower — 5.7% below actual December levels and 29% higher than a year ago.

Ontario retailers sold the most cannabis, with sales rising 5% monthly and 68% year over year to CA$155 million.

In Alberta, Canada’s second-largest most populous province, cannabis sales were up 11% from November and 3% year over year. Quebec’s cannabis sales are up 14% month-on-month and 9% year-on-year.

British Columbia saw cannabis sales grow 510% mom and 22% year over year in December.

Hifyre IQ estimated that product categories have shifted towards non-flower products, registering a record 30% in December versus 28.5% in November.

Additionally, the data analytics provider predicts that non-floral products are down 29.5% due to a reduction in the edibles category.
