Canada Day Cancellations – Cannabis | weed | marijuana
Last month, major Canadian cities announced Canada Day was canceled or celebrations reduced, such as no fireworks.
The reason lies in Canada’s history of racism and colonialism. So instead of empowering disenfranchised minorities and encouraging them to be part of the Canadian experience, politicians want to ban Canada Day celebrations altogether.
It is also worth noting that none of these minority groups have requested this.
As Melissa Mbarki said in the National Post, “Indigenous peoples are Canadians. We have every right to celebrate Canada Day, even if others choose not to… Eliminating a holiday or celebration that unites Canadians is not reconciliation. Actions like this divide us even more.”
Of course, divide and rule is the whole goal of Trudeau’s “post-national” Canada.
But the tide is turning. Ordinary people are beginning to notice how aggressive the “progressive” leftist cult has become.
Whether it’s about telling Muslim students that they don’t belong here because they’d rather not celebrate Pride Month. Or to suggest that administering experimental puberty blockers to children may have unintended consequences.
A conservative Poilievre government will not solve all of Canada’s problems. But it will solve Canada’s Trudeau problem.
So relax in the meantime. Light a joint. Celebrate Canada Day with friends and family. No matter what you think about Canada, it’s a three-day weekend. And that counts for something, doesn’t it?
But how did we get here? How did Canada’s secular religion of self-hatred prevail?
The logic behind the Canada Day cancellations
If left-wing activists took their proposals seriously, they would stop paying taxes. After all, what right does a colonial government have on unceded First Nations land?
But, as is usual with political activists, the ideology only goes so far. Canadian cities are poised to cancel Canada Day celebrations in the name of “reconciliation.” But what about the 94 outstanding appeals from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission?
These people don’t care about the indigenous peoples. Actions speak louder than words. Canada Day cancellations are more related to budget spending. But why not a virtue signal to cover up the problem?
Bad ideas capture others—namely, critical theory.
Despite its name, this teaching does not encourage critical thinking. Enlightenment values such as individual autonomy, freedom of expression, debate, reason and skepticism are examples of “white privilege” and a “colonial mindset”.
Critics call these concepts “Eurocentric” even though they apply to all peoples in general.
Left-wing crackpots will champion peace, equality, and justice while promoting policies and politicians that centralize power and divide people based on socially constructed identities.
The far-left activist projects his own insecurities. They go ahead with their conclusions. “Critical theory” does not criticize. It is not based on data, evidence or deductive reasoning. It is a factless ideology.
Cancellations on Canada Day as an expression of alertness
Critical theory is the intellectual basis of the progressive cult. For this reason, cancellations for Canada Day make sense for them. Their ideas have turned into a citizen religion. And that is the true definition of “woke”.
Like many religions, it is not up for debate. In the Middle Ages, renouncing the church and declaring yourself an atheist or agnostic was punishable by death.
Today? If you suggest that only women can get pregnant or that men don’t menstruate, the woke mob will jeopardize your reputation and your livelihood.
There was a time when only fringe professors at universities believed in these ideas. They now dominate all major public and private institutions: corporations, police, public schools, public health agencies, and even law firms.
How did that happen? Through a long march through the institutions. Marxists at the University of Frankfurt recognized that Westerners did not see themselves as exploited workers.
Instead of reassessing the validity of their ideology, they developed new theories. Exploitation was no longer just about capitalists versus workers. Power and oppression determined all relationships in society – even scientific knowledge.
Canada Day cancellations are merely an expression of this ideology.
Canada’s Cultural Revolution
Universities indoctrinate students in critical theory. Professors and teachers don’t give students the tools to think critically. On the contrary, these groups believe that this theory involves critical thinking.
The students have now graduated and populate human resources departments and public schools.
It is a Maoist cultural revolution. Any attempt to harness reason or logic is an expression of privilege and power.
James Lindsay, a critic of critical theory, calls this the “Kafkatrap”. “Notice the race? because you are racist Not? Because you are privileged and therefore racist.”
Or as Queens University law professor Bruce Pardy puts it, “If you deny you are a witch, then you are a witch.” And if you don’t deny it, then you most certainly are a witch.”
Cancellations on Canada Day? Why Canada Not Cancel?
Against this background, cancellations for Canada Day make sense. But why not go further? Why not delegitimize Canada entirely?
As with the Lindsay and Pardy quotes above, reason doesn’t matter.
Do you support the Dominion of Canada? Then you are a racist. Don’t support Canada? Still a racist because Trudeau’s post-national Canada corrects past injustices.
You are free to interpret Canada Day cancellations as you wish. Double standards are a feature of critical theory, not a flaw.
Consider what critical theory propagandist Herbert Marcuse wrote in 1965.
Movements from the left must experience an expanded tolerance, even when they are violent, while movements from the right must not be tolerated, including their suppression through violence.
This is how Trudeau was able to take part in a Black Lives Matter march in 2020. A week after he told Canadians to stay in their homes because of the flu.
And then he declares a public emergency because of a peaceful “right-wing” protest.
Because of this, the burning Christian churches went unnoticed by the Trudeau administration and most “journalists” in the corporate press.
But a joke about mass graves of indigenous children went viral. Even to the point where the Trudeau administration is now considering criminalizing the speech of anyone who challenges that narrative.
Canada Day cancellations are left-leaning and will therefore be tolerated. Flying a Canadian flag in the back of your pickup truck is right-wing and therefore “white supremacy”.
What happened to the left?
Many people don’t understand what happened to the left. Wasn’t that about free speech and deviating from establishment orthodoxy?
Once upon a time, yes. But as with any successful leftist revolution, the rebels began to eat up their own. The baby boomers who are being overwhelmed by the next generation of far-left activists have only themselves to blame.
“Conservative” concepts of private property, religion, and sexual modesty did not exist without reason.
That doesn’t mean we can justify all of these concepts. Or that everyone must follow conservative traditions.
The oppression of women and minorities was and still is reprehensible. But consider how these black spots in human history are manifesting under the progressive cult.
Women are losing their exclusive spaces to men with mental health issues posing as women. The “progressive” cult encourages this.
The cult expects minorities to think and vote in a certain way (e.g. for left-wing parties). If they don’t, it’s “Oreos,” “traitors,” or some other racial slur.
How cannabis can save Canada
Full discourse: I’m not about saving Canada. I don’t give a damn about Canada Day cancellations because I hate crowds and find fireworks extremely overrated.
Also, Canada is a fictional country. Invisible lines on a map. This entire continent is 25 million square kilometers. There are only three countries (Canada, USA, Mexico) and several small island states.
Europe, on the other hand, is only 10 million square kilometers and is home to 51 countries.
North America can be home to over 100 nation states. Like Europe, we can continue to trade with each other.
Each country can chart its own course. Some may experiment with far-left ideologies. Others can embrace liberal and conservative values that we know work.
Values that made western civilization free and prosperous.
There are over three million square kilometers of farmland in North America. Instead of growing corn, soy and canola for highly processed junk foods, we can adopt regenerative agriculture.
We can also grow hemp. Instead of banning plastic and robbing people with carbon taxes, we can rebuild an industrial society based on cannabis production.
Hemp is a versatile plant that can be used to make textiles, paper, building materials, biofuels, and even biodegradable plastics.
But getting from A to B will be a challenge. Millions do not see their “progressive” views for what they are – a secular, bourgeois religion. They have a smug “holier than you” attitude. They believe that anyone who disagrees with them is engaging in “hate speech.”
But luckily for us, this self-loathing cult also believes that Canada is a neo-colonial, white, supremacist state.
And so it’s fair for the rest of us to refrain from this madness. We will create our own nation state. With blackjacks and hookers.
Happy Canada Day everyone.
