Can you wrap a glass bong so it doesn't break?

Glass bongs are popular because they deliver smooth hits, look good, are easy to clean, and offer a clean taste.

Sometimes you may want to travel somewhere else with your glass bong. For example, maybe you're going camping or just taking your bong to a friend's house.

However, shipping or transporting a glass bong is not that easy. Glass is more susceptible to breakage from bumps, drops, and impacts it is exposed to during transportation.

It may seem risky to ship or transport very fragile glass bongs to their destination in a box or bag. Therefore, packing a glass bong is a delicate process that requires utmost care.

In this article, we will show you all the procedures you need to follow to get your glassware safely to its destination.

Materials you need

Relatively few packaging materials are used to ship or transport most items. Usually not much is needed other than a box and some stuffing around the item.

Glass is a different story. Due to the often turbulent conditions the package is exposed to, it is important to use a larger amount of protective packaging materials.

The better the glass is protected, the greater the chance that it will reach its destination in one piece.

1. Sturdy cardboard

A simple bag has no pressure resistance. You will need at least a sturdy cardboard box to prevent crushing.

However, if you want the best protection, many online stores sell special bong cases or bong bags.

2. Wrapping paper or bubble wrap

To pack the glass bong and fill the empty spaces in the boxes, you will need various packaging materials.

Packing paper or bubble wrap act as cushioning material to cushion any shocks during the move.

If you want to save money, old clothes or newspapers are also great options.

3. Packaging tape

Packing tape helps seal boxes and secure their contents.

4. Cardboard cell divider (optional)

Cardboard cell dividers can protect and insulate pieces of glass.

How do you pack and package a glass bong so it doesn't break?

By following these steps, you can pack your glass bong safely and minimize the risk of damage during your move.

Step 1: Prepare the box

To prevent your glass bong from breaking, you really can't go wrong with a padded case designed specifically for glass storage.

If you don't have one on hand, you'll need to prepare a fairly sturdy cardboard box, ideally just slightly larger than the bong.

Reinforce the bottom of the box with tape to ensure it can support the weight of the glass bong.

Place crumpled packing paper or bubble wrap on the bottom of the box to create a cushioning layer.

Step 2: Wrap the bong

First, always remove the stem and bowl and wrap them separately so that the glass does not press against the glass.

Wrap your glass bong in a layer of packing paper, wrapping paper, or newspaper and secure it with a piece of tape.

Then wrap the jar in several layers of bubble wrap (which is readily available commercially) and secure it with tape. The more layers, the more protection.

When you're finished, you'll want to cover your glass bong with three to four layers of bubble wrap.

Step 3: Place the bong in the box

Place the packaged items in the box with the large, heavy glass bong body on the bottom and the lighter glass pieces on top.

Then place cell dividers between them to keep the glass bong, stem and bowl separate while in the box and prevent them from coming into contact with each other and breaking during transport.

Fill any gaps with crumpled packing paper or additional bubble wrap.

Step 4: Pad the top

Once the box is full, place a final layer of crumpled wrapping paper or bubble wrap on top of the glass bong to provide additional cushioning.

Step 5: Check and seal the box

Before sealing the box, gently shake it back and forth. You shouldn't hear the jar clicking or feel any major shift in the contents.

Once you are happy with the packaging, close the box and tape off any possible openings.

With a little extra care and packing materials, you can ensure your glass bong receives the protection it needs to get to your destination in one piece.

This way, even if you accidentally drop it onto the concrete floor from a height of at least one meter, it will not be damaged.

We strongly recommend that you invest in a quality carrying case that is designed to hold your device in place and protect it from breaking with the slightest shock.

If you plan to store your hookah in your bag from time to time, you can keep it safe along with your other belongings by wrapping it well in a towel, thick clothing, or even bubble wrap.

Glass bongs are not the best travel companion, especially if they are large. Get a mini and a small bong in 8 or 9 inches for portability.

But really, if you're worried about being clumsy, you should go for something that just isn't made of glass.

Silicone bongs are perfect for travel. And if you hear someone say that it is unhealthy to use a silicone bong. Remind them that the bong is completely safe to use as long as they don't set the silicone on fire.
