Losing weight is all the rage and causes excitement for a number of reasons, but can you also vape a little and relax while you're at it?
The latest weight loss trend is taking Ozempic. According to a Gallup poll, over 6% of adults in the US and Canada have tried it. That means over 16 million people have tried it. Amy Schumer, Kelly Clarkson, Sharon Osbourne, Chelsea Handler, Dolores Catania, Oprah and Charles Barkley have all tried it. Millions of people struggle with their weight and body image. In the last 12 months, 56% of women and nearly 42% of men have tried to lose weight. And the new hot drug is touted as a miracle cure. But what if you want to relax and unwind while taking it? Can you consume marijuana while taking Ozempic?

Some people enjoy the food, the taste of the food, and the ritual of eating alone or with friends. Diets and other weight loss programs are often viewed as punishment or as something negative. And when you want to relax, alcohol usually disrupts a weight loss routine because of the sugar and how it is absorbed by the body. But marijuana is a different story. Ozempic works by mimicking a naturally occurring hormone. When that hormone level rises, the molecules enter your brain and tell it you are full. It also slows down digestion by increasing the time it takes for food to leave the body. This is similar to the effect of bariatric surgery.
Due to limited research and data, small amounts of alcohol, such as 1-2 drinks per day with food, appear to be generally safe based on initial studies. However, alcohol is known to interfere with the blood sugar control mechanisms that Ozempic is designed to improve, so there could be issues with the success of the routine.
Marijuana varies in its composition and the way it is absorbed by the body. There is currently no research or data to show that marijuana interferes with the effects of the drug. However, keep in mind that Ozempic can interact with oral forms of cannabis (forms you swallow) such as tablets, capsules, gummies, and other edibles.

The side effects can be bothersome and include nausea, vomiting, constipation, and sometimes diarrhea. These are related to the same concept regarding the movement of the intestines and stomach. The benefits somehow come from the same pathway. In addition to gastrointestinal symptoms, the drug can also cause rash, gallbladder problems, and abdominal pain. It is important to speak to a doctor if you are starting something that may have an impact on your body and organs.
