Better than a pharmacy? – The excitement in lounges for cannabis use is reaching a fever spurt across America
Unsurprisingly, cannabis use lounges are performing well in America.
The U.S. has all the ingredients any business needs to make massive revenue, it has the demand, supply, and supporting policies to ensure that most businesses make it big.
With state laws alone, entrepreneurs have succeeded in turning a relatively new market into a hotspot. With the reduction of cannabis prohibition laws, the emergence of cannabis use lounges and smoking rooms has highlighted the need to lift cannabis bans at the federal level.
The frequency with which American cannabis users frequented these cannabis lounges indicated that they had eagerly awaited this moment. Now people no longer have to stay in the solitude of their homes to consume cannabis, and they don’t have to think about “how and where” to use it socially.
These steps may or may not have been taken had the pandemic not occurred. It’s hard to deny the role the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown have played on the booming cannabis industry around the world, especially in the United States. Legislators have not yet worked out the best laws for the cannabis-use lounges, but they are doing their best to come up with reforms that would stabilize the market.
States that have not yet approved the establishment of lounges for cannabis use have recognized how good business can be for their economies. Not to mention, it has been effective in reducing the rate of public cannabis use in these states.
States like Illinois, Nevada, and California are being used as blueprints for setting up cannabis use lounges, and other states will learn from them when they are ready to allow these safe spaces.
The American states with cannabis lounges
The social acceptance of cannabis products is promoted by some states by setting up cannabis consumption lounges in selected locations.
Cannabis is regulated in the same way as alcohol in these states. If people across America can get together to share bottles of alcohol, they should be able to do the same with cannabis.
NEVADA
Las Vegas is known for anything that is fun, progressive, and in some ways scandalous. A cannabis use lounge is expected to be established in Nevada and the government is actively supporting the growth of the state’s cannabis industry.
The state currently has a cannabis lounge called “The Vegas Tasting Room”. This is the only room where cannabis can be “tasted”. Here, customers are offered options for using cannabis with dab rigs, bongs, joints, vapes, and other delivery options.
The Vegas tasting room serves a high percentage of cannabis tourists annually. Visitors hang out, network, and consume cannabis in this secure space.
Nevada lawmakers plan to grant two new licenses to cannabis use businesses in the state, one for retail businesses and the other for independent lounges.
The bill will open the niche for more entrepreneurs and healthy competition.
PENNSYLVANIA
Pennsylvania has a cannabis lounge in Abington. The venue is called “The After Dispensary”. Cannabis is not sold within the room, customers must bring their product before they can gain access to the room.
To avoid congestion in the lounge, only Pennsylvania residents are permitted and must present their valid MMJ card to prove eligibility.
A few months ago, Pennsylvania hosted its annual cannabis festival at a licensed event that was held outdoors.
ILLINOIS
Illinois has two cannabis lounges in the state, with at least two more due to open this fall.
Customers must bring their cannabis with them while the lounge provides delivery equipment for rent or sale.
The first lounge to open sometime in July is known as the Luna Lounge. Since its official opening, the lounge has generated tremendous revenue while also providing one of the safest places for residents to consume cannabis and relax with the company.
The state’s zoning committee has licensed about three companies in different locations across the state. One entrepreneur has announced plans to convert their cinema grounds into a state-of-the-art cannabis cooperative, consumption lounge, and possibly a greenhouse.
The other states with plans for cannabis lounges
These are states that are in the process of opening retail and independent lounges to cannabis use.
New Jersey
State and local governments have begun assisting business owners and issuing permits so that they can set up their cannabis consumption rooms in specific locations
The state only authorizes licensed medical pharmacy owners and cannabis retailers to legally establish a cannabis consumption lounge. No permits are issued for independent cannabis consumption rooms as the approved law only considers retail establishments to be licensed.
new York
The state plans to make its cannabis consumption rooms as well as retail stores independent.
According to reports, the proposed spaces would resemble club-style lounges and places for drinking alcohol. However, alcohol would not be consumed or sold in any of these locations.
Experts estimate that New York will generate around 6 billion dollars in sales with this division by 2027.
What next?
The slow progress in consumption lounges in other states is due to the lack of federal cannabis reforms. The fewer regulatory hurdles to overcome, the more cannabis use lounges would be set up in stores across the country.
The rest of the legalized adult cannabis-use states not listed above are quietly forging plans for cannabis-use lounges.
States with only medical cannabis laws must approve the use of recreational herbs before steps can be taken to allow lounges for cannabis use.
It all boils down to getting better cannabis policies across the country.
diploma
Cannabis lounges are the safest consumer-centric places to use marijuana. You are more than welcome in the existing lines of business in the cannabis industry. These lounges are a way for investors to get into the industry without growing or packaging cannabis.
Most states are beginning to understand the multiple benefits associated with these spaces. The state can monitor cannabis use while generating tax revenue.
