BC Enables Recreational Cannabis Delivery – Latest Cannabis News Today
Do you need some grass but too baked to go out? Why not call for delivery! This may not be an option now, but it will be in a few weeks. According to a recent announcement by the provincial government, the rules will be relaxed on July 15. From mid-July, licensed cannabis dealers will be allowed to ship directly to their customers and that’s not all … Here are the details of these upcoming changes.
Cannabis delivery
The goal is to downsize the illegal market and they plan to do this by making cannabis more accessible. While not every detail has been announced, the ones that did seem pretty straightforward.
- Delivery is made to adults from the age of nineteen.
- Two IDs must be presented upon delivery.
- A signature and name are required for each delivery.
Deliveries are only allowed to residential addresses, but alternatively, pick-up at the roadside is possible from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Payment?
When it comes to medical cannabis in Canada, orders can only be placed and shipped using credit cards. As a result, many medical patients cannot afford their medication; Therefore, they refrain from doing so unless they find an illegal source. As things stand, these changes will only affect leisure sales.
There was not a word on how these deliveries are organized, especially in relation to payments. Do you accept cash on delivery or do you have to pay in advance? If not, is cash accepted at the door? Is this a free service or is it chargeable? Can drivers accept tips? The rules for payments will be published shortly. But until then we have some burning questions.
Goodbye security clearance
Would you like to work with recreational cannabis but cannot work due to previous exposure? As of July 15, 2021, you will no longer need a security clearance. Requirements change and guess what? Delivery drivers are about to be in high demand.
The recreational cannabis industry is made for adults and it is high time the rules included that. While not all of the details have been made clear yet, this new announcement seems like a step in the right direction.
