Australian-Canadian Cannabis Relations: A Lesson in Stupidity – Cannabis | weed | marijuana
Australian-Canadian cannabis relations are a lesson in stupidity
Think about it. One day historians will look at that time and come to a conclusion: We’re a bunch of idiots.
Just look at the evidence. We have a greenhouse effect out of control. So are we investing heavily in nuclear power?
No, the government imposes “carbon taxes” on individuals and their families, limits food production, and squanders billions of dollars “investing” in low-quality technologies like solar farms and wind turbines.
Are governments relying on Zoom calls to communicate and explore ways to reduce industrial carbon emissions in supply chains?
Of course not.
They fly all over the world in private jets and lecture us on how to eat bugs instead of red meat.
Then they give big corporations tax breaks and subsidies, and pretend that anyone rightfully angry at this merger of corporate and state power is promoting “hate” or “misinformation.”
Need an example? Australian-Canadian Cannabis Relations. It really is a lesson in stupidity.
How medical cannabis works in Australia
Remember how medicinal cannabis worked in Canada in 2012? This is Australia in 2022. To say they are behind the times is an understatement.
Australians can’t even grow their own medicinal cannabis, so technically they’re in a worse situation than Canadians were a decade ago.
How does it work now? Just like it used to work here.
- one: You walk into a cannabis clinic with some kind of illness.
- Two: The doctor will give you a prescription for medicinal cannabis
- Three: You either order from a list of approved manufacturers.
Of course you could visit the black market.
In Canada we refer to this as “BC Bud” or the legacy market. In Australia it is often referred to as the ‘green’ market and at least 11% of the population gets their cannabis from there.
So far everything is fine, isn’t it? Except Australians can’t grow their own. You are also not allowed to smoke or vape in public.
You can only take medication on your private property if you are licensed for medicinal cannabis in Australia.
And suppose the police catch you with cannabis in public. The chances that they will confiscate it and bring charges against you are more likely than the alternative.
That means the police will believe you when you say it’s medical and ask your doctor.
Australia-Canadian Cannabis Supply Chain: Why?
This is where Australian-Canadian cannabis relations go silly.
Consider Australia’s vast and diverse climate regions. They are all ideal for growing cannabis outdoors. Depending on the location, there is plenty of sun and warmth from August to April.
Compare this to Canada, which has winter for eight months of the year. Where even in summer your outdoor plants may not survive the night cold.
All major Canadian cannabis producers grow indoors.
It’s like Australia importing kangaroo meat from a local kangaroo farm in Saskatchewan.
This is how medicinal cannabis works. Australians – who are better equipped than Canadians to grow cannabis – have to import their cannabis from 14,000 kilometers away.
Talk about an unnecessary carbon footprint.
And don’t even get me started on how we could fuel these container ships with hemp biodiesel instead of supporting the brutal regime of Saudi Arabia.
So let’s go through what happens when you want medicinal cannabis in Australia.
You visit a cannabis clinic. You get a prescription. Then you go to a pharmacy. It may turn out that they don’t have the strain you need. So you go back to the cannabis clinic. You apply for an import permit at the Office of Drug Control.
Then wait. Health Canada must issue an appropriate export permit, which can take up to 90 days or more. Anyone who has dealt with Health Canada knows what I’m talking about.
Assuming everything went smoothly. Suppose you receive your medication within 90 days without much hassle or hassle.
That still doesn’t address the sheer waste and energy-sapping nonsense that is the Australian-Canadian cannabis import/export relationship.
Australian-Canadian Cannabis: Fixing This Problem
Liberalize legalization. How to fix the Australian-Canadian cannabis supply chain. Eliminate all unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles and financial burdens imposed on cannabis producers.
Canada does not have to export its cannabis to Australia. Australians have the means and the perfect climate to grow them themselves.
If anything, Australia should provide Canadians with quality outdoor cannabis.
But I suppose that’s the world we live in. The COVID pandemic has shown that neither the Australian nor Canadian governments care about logic and common sense.
Australia had COVID detention centers, for goodness sake.
And it’s clear that all this talk about a new “green” economy and environmental protection is a double entender: give us all the money and all the power.
Justin Trudeau burned 85.8 tons of greenhouse gases into the Earth’s atmosphere a month while flying around in his private jet.
That yearly The Canadian average is 4.1 tons.
Do what I say, not what I do. That is the ethos of our political elite. And the masses support it.
One day historians will look at that time and come to a conclusion: We’re a bunch of idiots.
