Finally borders have opened all over the world and summer is fast approaching. For many of us, returning to those beautiful European summers is a dream come true. Whether heading to the beaches, mountains or cities, the charm of Europe at this time of year is undeniable.
Even better, more destinations across the continent have changed their approach to cannabis, making it even easier to get either THC or CBD products in many destinations. You’re no longer just limited to Amsterdam if you want to get high in Europe, although it’s still a must-see for cannabis lovers if you’ve never been there. Here’s where you can get weed if you travel to Europe this summer.

Freetown Christiana, Denmark
Freetown Christiana is a bohemian hotspot in Scandinavian Europe, where growing cannabis is perfectly legal — though illegal in the rest of the country. Head over to Pusher Street, as the Green Light District is called, and you’ll find plenty of cannabis openly sold on the street.

Additionally, Christiana is known for its laid-back lifestyle, charming attractions and strong environmental commitment. Despite this, it still attracts many tourists from all over the world who come to Denmark to seek cannabis in all forms. On Pusher Street you can buy cannabis in resin blocks, joints and much more. The government has turned a blind eye to this for many years and the locals tolerate it.
Lisbon, Portugal
Cannabis use has long been decriminalized in Portugal and police officers have no interest in catching people for marijuana offenses. Just be sure to behave in public and don’t give the authorities a reason to catch you.
When in Lisbon head downtown near the Baixa tourist area or Praca Martim Moniz. However, the cannabis you will most likely encounter here is in hash form, very rarely in flower. In Portugal, tourists must keep in mind that cannabis can only legally be bought in small quantities; On rare occasions, getting caught with large amounts of money could land you in serious legal trouble.
Barcelona, Spain
Paella, wine and tapas are not the only reasons why many tourists come to Barcelona. Sure, the beautiful city, culture, and nearby beaches are incredible, but what better way to enjoy them than getting high?
Barcelona is quickly gaining a reputation for being one of the most cannabis-friendly cities in Europe. Cannabis social clubs and lounges are now springing up like weeds across the city, and you can certainly get more quality bud here compared to neighboring Portugal. There is a current loophole that allows cannabis clubs to legally exist. However, smoking and possession are still legal provided you do so at home or at a social cannabis club if you can get a membership.

Don’t smoke in public or get caught buying weed from street dealers; If you get hold of weed, the police can still search you, so try to keep it in your underwear, according to insiders.
If you happen to be visiting in March, make time to check out Spannabis, an annual cannabis event held here.
Prague, Czech Republic
While possession and smoking of cannabis is still illegal in the Czech Republic, there is a clear cannabis legalization movement in Prague. However, possession of less than 4 grams is generally acceptable, although you still want to avoid getting caught by the police, so make sure to consume privately. In general, the authorities are lax as long as you don’t smoke in public.

You will come across many illegal cannabis vendors on the street, but be careful: many of them are known to scam travelers. The best places to find weed are in the pubs and clubs in the evenings, although you’ll need to try and find some friends to gain access.
Berlin, Germany
Upon arrival in Berlin, it is not uncommon to smell the distinct aroma of cannabis wafting through the city. As of 2017, only medical cannabis is legal in Germany, although it has quickly become the largest MMJ market on the entire continent, while recreational cannabis is still illegal.

However, cannabis is tolerated in Berlin. You can always find locals smoking it in public and the cops tend to leave you alone if you do it. Marijuana under 11 grams is considered a tiny amount, and in the rare event that you get caught, the police will likely let you go with nothing but a receipt. If you’re caught with more than 11 grams on you, the story is different and not what you want your European vacation to be.
The best way to get weed in Berlin is through face-to-face contacts, although finding dealers through the Telegram app has also become common. Some Telegram groups can also be found. You will also find people selling weed in public parks, although this is not recommended as it is usually laced with chemicals and you have no idea what you are consuming.
Conclusion
These are just a few of the many cities in Europe where it is fairly easy for tourists to get hold of cannabis. But before you do that, always do your research.
It’s safest if you have a local friend who can get you hooked up rather than going out and doing it yourself. Do your research before you leave, as laws can always change on the fly.
