Hangovers are annoying and difficult to treat. While some people can deal with it with a little water and Advil, others are forced to spend the day in bed trying to sleep off the alcohol. Can weeds help?
There isn’t a lot of scientific evidence on the subject, but many cannabis smokers believe that one joint can improve the overall experience. Symptoms such as an upset stomach or headache, which are common with a hangover, can be controlled with a little THC, also because it is simply a distraction.

While there are many questions about cannabis and hangover that there are few scientific studies on either topic, the anecdotal evidence we have suggests why some people choose to ingest weed when they experience this discomfort feel. Cannabis is known for its anti-anxiolytic effects, which are very common in hangovers. There are also marijuana effects on nausea and pain relief, which could be key in managing body aches and headaches.

If you’re feeling bad and don’t want to add smoke to the equation, a low-THC edible may do the trick. Ingesting about 10 mg of cannabis won’t get you high, but it could help relieve your headaches, anxiety, and nausea

Pain in the joints or bruises that occurred the night before, when you stumbled into things and were too drunk to notice, can be treated with cannabis balms and lotions. This could also be rubbed on the neck and shoulders to relieve this tension.

Just because you have a new way to treat your hangover doesn’t mean you should forget the basics. Aside from avoiding alcohol or limiting your intake altogether, it is more realistic to drink plenty of water and have a full meal before you drink. But remember: at some point your body will metabolize the alcohol (usually no more than 24 hours) and you will be fine.
