Announcing the High Times Cannabis Cup New Mexico: People’s Choice Edition 2023

What has a lush landscape of natural beauty, is famous for green chili peppers, is the birthplace of Neil Patrick Harris, is the current home of author George RR Martin (seriously, he hosts a day in his honor on March 29th annually). has a variety of cultures and is also home to a vibrant cannabis scene? We are proud to announce that for the first time ever, we will be expanding our popular cannabis competition to New Mexico! Welcome to the High Times Cannabis Cup New Mexico: People’s Choice Edition 2023.

Adult cannabis sales in New Mexico began on April 1, 2022. On that day alone, consumers flooded nearby dispensaries with sales of a whopping $3 million over the first weekend and have seen a steady increase in sales since then. Almost a year later, the industry is thriving and we know you’re ready to dive into some of the best products in the state.

For New Mexico consumers, you have the power! Pick up one of our judge kits from June 17th through August 20th at our retail partners at Pecos Valley Productions (more to be announced soon). We have 11 categories for this cup:

Entry categories:

1. Indica Flower (maximum 2 entries per company)
2. Sativa Flower (maximum 2 entries per company)
3. Hybrid flower (maximum of 2 entries per company)
4. Pre-Rolls (maximum of 2 entries per company)
5. Infused Pre-Rolls (limit 1 entry per company)
6. Solvent concentrates (maximum 2 entries per company)
7. Non-solvent concentrates (maximum 2 entries per company)
8. Vape Pens & Cartridges (Max 2 entries per company) (Category can be split)
9. Edibles: Gummies & Fruit Chews (Max 2 entries per business)
10. Edibles: Chocolates & Non-Gummies (Max 2 entries per business)
11. Sublinguals, capsules, tinctures + topicals (maximum 3 entries per company)

After you have collected your judging equipment, log into our online judging portal and let us know your comments. Depending on the category, the jurors are invited to carefully analyze their products according to numerous criteria. The aesthetics of a product and its packaging, aroma/smell, taste/flavor profile and effect/effect are just some of the things we expect from the jury. Based on each product’s total score, we calculate which received the most praise from the judges and announce the winners via a digital awards ceremony on September 3rd.

The goal of our People’s Choice Edition contest is to shine a spotlight on some of the most unique and unique products in the state. Those wishing to enter the competition can submit their products to our recording partner, Pecos Valley Productions, between June 5th and 7th. However, there are some rules for entry, so please read the following information carefully:

Entry requirements:

• Flower: (228) 1 gram samples. We do not accept 3.5 gram entries.
• Pre-Rolls & Enriched Pre-Rolls: (228) Samples: Pre-Rolls will be limited to 2g each flower only; Infused pre-rolls are each limited to 3g flower equivalent or 1g concentrate equivalent.
• Concentrates & Vape Pens: (228) 0.5 gram samples. We do not accept 1 gram entries. Batteries required for carts.
• Edibles: (100) Samples containing 50 mg THC max.
• Sublinguals, capsules, tinctures + topicals: (60) samples with 100 mg THC max.

The price for an entry is $250 and is non-refundable. Two entries are marked $100 each and are also non-refundable. However, if you submit three or more entries, each entry will cost $100 and is a refundable deposit per entry held. You can receive a refund if all entries are successfully submitted and these fees will be waived if you choose to sponsor our event.
