Advantages and disadvantages of prefilled vape pens

There are many ways to consume marijuana, but none of them are as easy and convenient as a vape pen. These devices are available in pharmacies and come in a variety of styles. Some of these are disposable, others simply require changing a cartridge and a quick charge. They have understandably become one of the most popular items in the cannabis industry, seeing a 50% increase in sales between 2017 and 2018.

While vape pens aren’t the most extreme form of cannabis consumption, they do provide some variety if you’re used to smoking flower. Here are some of the most noticeable advantages and disadvantages of these devices:

Vape pens are among the most portable and discreet ways to consume cannabis. Once you have one, you won’t have to worry about where you keep your pen or who is looking at you while you vape. Compared to joints and pipes, these devices generally emit a much more subdued smell and are also difficult to distinguish from e-cigarettes.

Another positive aspect of vape pens is the fact that they are much easier to use than bongs and dabs. While any of these methods can get you high in a single puff, with vape pens this only happens if you take multiple puffs at once. Unless you are a beginner or have little experience with vaping cannabis, a single puff from a vape pen will not result in an overdose.

There is a learning curve

Switching from smoking marijuana flower to vaping requires some adjustment, as the latter tends to be much stronger. According to Science Daily, a study conducted by Johns Hopkins analyzed two groups of subjects: one who smoked concentrate and the other who smoked flower. Both groups consumed the same dosage. The study found that subjects who smoked concentrate were more likely to suffer from short-term anxiety, paranoia, memory loss and distraction.

Unlike flower, bongs, and dabs, vape pens require charging. If you charge your devices regularly, this shouldn’t be a big hassle, but it could lead to trouble if you lose the charger or forget it and plan to smoke on the go.

Vape pens require care

Vape pens require a certain amount of care depending on their price and level of complexity. While disposable pens can be thrown away when the juice runs out, more expensive products require regular cleaning, protection from extreme weather conditions, a protective case and regular charging.
