These pipes are usually made of glass, wood or metal and, despite their different shapes, are portable and easy to use. Because the design is so straight forward, there are no sections for water to make the drag smoother. If this is a priority then you should probably look for other options.

If you are not interested in pipes or already have one, then bongs are the next logical step. These devices are bigger and less discreet, but more luxurious. Of course, there are still crappy bongs out there, but the fact that you’re smoking from a larger chunk means the smoke will travel further and the puff won’t be as hard as a pipe. These pieces are more expensive than pipes, but if purchased correctly they can be modified and have a longer shelf life. Just don’t drop it.

Bongs can be made of almost any material, but the best options are those made of glass or scientific glass, which is tougher. Once you’ve got all of that out of the way, it’s time to focus on colors and shapes.
