What is a hash hole?
A hash hole – also called a donut or a snake hole – is a large joint with rolled out roses or living colophone that is hidden in the middle. As you smoke, the hash burns more slowly than the flower, a hole creates in the ashes and delivers a rich, layered taste and a smooth, strong hit.

Follow the following steps to create a perfect hash hole every time:
- Grind your flower by hand or with a rough mill failure for destroyed buds, not for fine powder.
- Place your paper up with the rubberized edge and place your filter tip at one end.
- Design your colophone or hash in an even “snake” and center it in length of the paper.
- Sprinkle the ground flower evenly over the paper and completely cover the hash snake.
- Use your thumb and index finger to put the paper into a solid cylinder and roll and keep the hash centered.
- Seal the connection by licking the gum strips or using a swab of cigar adhesive.
- Turn the open end closed, glow and enjoy the hole as it forms in the ashes.
Tips for a perfect hole
Use fresh, slightly moist flowers so that it burns at a similar speed as your colophone. If your hash is too soft to roll, relax in the fridge briefly. And take slow, even puffs – slipping can collapse the hole or make the joint canoe.
