Is a swab for developers still one thing

It seems that the world is about technology – but does it make it easier for developers to a green area?

The focus currency is in the high operations with high concentration of software development. So is a swab for developers still one thing? Cannabis is a growing sub -group of programmers and has become an unlikely coding companion. A study recently published on arxiv.org shows that 18% of the software developers surveyed use cannabis at least once a month to “get into a programming zone”, while 35% at some point tried them when they coded.

“It's not about getting high – it's about being aligned says Mike, a full stack engineer at a startup in Boulder, Colorado. He microdoses the food during the evening coding sessions. “I think I'm better to think better on the side. When I put on a function, cannabis sometimes helps me to approach it differently like a soft mental rotation.”

The Arxiv study suggests that this is not unusual. The developers called reasons that ranged from increased concentration and creativity to reduced fear of coding. Others describe a “more urgent” experience and hyperfocussed logic puzzle and algorithmic flow.

But not everyone agrees. “Cannabis makes me too foggy for real problem solutionssays Janelle, senior developer in a cyber security company. “It is a myth that weed makes her a better programmer. It can feel good, but you probably make mistakes.” She is also concerned about how normalization could muddy the professional expectations of already distant-friendly tech jobs.

The guidelines at the workplace are still fitting. While cannabis is legal in many states, most corporate initiates are particularly annoyed by those who deal with sensitive data or government contracts guidelines without use. There are still random drug tests, and although the use of off-PE connection supplies are tolerated, developers are pushing a fine line.

“There is no real protocol,” says Arun, Devops engineer and manager. “Is it the same as a glass of wine after work or is it a performance risk? Legal and culturally we are still in the balance.”

Some communities have not prevented this floating from using the trend. Online forums and subreddits such as R/Trees and R/Programmer humor regularly share weed-and-code memes and productivity tips, which even jokingly refer to “thcoding”.

Ultimately, the intersection of cannabis and code reflects the developing views of technology culture to productivity, wellness and neurodiversity. For some developers, decoding with a DAB is not a rebellion – it is a workflow.

When a Redditor joked: “Sober, I repair mistakes. Up, I think the one I didn't know about existed.”
