Rejoice, fellow Californians, we are in a new era of the world's most prestigious cannabis competition – the Emerald Cup. The new venue is now in Oakland and means fresh blood. This year's leaderboard was a mix of newcomers, old favorites, and exciting collaborations. Decibel Gardens made waves with their own Roswell 47, a cross of Jealousy. Huckleberry Hill Farms had a hand in several winners, from concentrates to pre-rolls to edibles. Rebel Grown's Double OG Chem continues to dominate the Sungrown category, and Whitehorn Rose could be the strain of the year. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Hundreds of buds pass through the judges' pipes, papers, and bongs each year. The 2024 Cup had four grow categories, and we've selected the crème de la crème from each.

Roswell 47 by Decibel Gardens is a cross between our 2023 Strain of the Year, Jealousy, and their proprietary C-Note. She won the Indoor Flower Breeder's Cup for her peppery berry terpenes. Runner-up Nameless Genetics stood out with its Mega Wellness OG, a cross of Chemdog and OG Kush with a 2002 male OG Kush that produced a Kush with an intense earthy, hoppy, and petrol-like profile. If you can't beat them, join them! 2022 and 2023 Sungrown Flower winners Farmer + the Felon and Rebel Grown teamed up to win both Gold and the Sungrown Breeder's Cup with Rebel's Double OG Chem. You can get it at Pacabol in Chula Vista and Padre Mu in Oakland.
Teamwork makes the weed work: Magic Meadow Farms x Conception Nurseries x Humido take second place with Heir Heads, available at The Boulevard in Lemon Grove, CA and Purple Star MD in San Francisco.
Ridgeline Farms has built its reputation on a small selection of strains, and their proprietary strain, Ridgeline Runtz, is the top performer. Runtz is available nationwide, and no two growers achieve the same result. You can purchase another of their creations, LANTZ, which came in at number ninth, at Lemonnade in Union City, Cookies in Hayward, and Cookies Brentwood in Los Angeles.

In this collaboration with Ay Papi, their Whitethorn Rose ice water hash was the undisputed winner. You can find it at Klover in San Diego and at Berkeley Patients Group in Berkeley. Ay Papi also took third place in the hash category with their collaboration with Mattole Valley Sun Grown to produce Purple Papaya, available through DNA Delivery in Los Angeles. Have Hash's Sour Bears took silver.
Have Hash has scored a total victory on the live rosin side with their collaboration with Royal Budline on Honey Bananas and is on the shelves (for now) at Cookies Brentwood in Los Angeles and Lytt in Pacifica, California.
Moon Valley Cannabis, whose name you'll see again later, took second place with their “dual consistency” Panther Candy rosin; they also took fourth place with hashish winner Neon Panther. An oldie but a good one, Durban Lime, took third place thanks to Punch Extracts x Luma Farms.
