How to clean 710 wax coils

How to clean the coils of your Fifth Ave Green House 710 Wax Pen

Dab pen coils are consumables; most of us throw them away and replace them with new ones. However, regular cleaning will extend the life of your wax pen coils and keep them working at their best.

Various Fifth Ave Green House 710 coils

The Fifth Ave Green House 710 Quartz Atomizer Coils are suitable for Python, Dragon Egg, Unicorn Mini, Q7, Swordfish and other Fifth Ave Green House devices. These coils are available in four styles: A, B, C and D.

These coils are all interchangeable. Atomizers have different coil arrangements and airflows, which produce a different heat profile and slightly change how they work.

Type A – Best Flavor – This coil has a wider plate that heats slower but more evenly. It has good 360-degree airflow. Overall, it provides a smoother flavor.

Type B – Best Vapor Production – The two holes in this coil result in faster heating. The two holes in the coil expose the wax to a higher temperature faster, producing more vapor.

Type C – Wax Saving – The square plate heats evenly and features a directed airflow across the top, helping to save wax.

Type D – Clear – These coils are similar to Type B coils but have a clear side so you can check how much wax is in the vaporizer without opening it.

How much wax should I use?

For optimal performance, it is recommended to use small blobs the size of a peppercorn or a few grains of rice.

Place the wax in the center of the quartz plate so that it is heated evenly.

This allows the wax to be fully heated and vaporize evenly. If you put large amounts into the coil, some of the wax will not heat evenly.

This can cause the coil to overflow or excess wax to run onto the coils and burn.

To avoid overloading, make sure all the wax has evaporated before adding additional dabs.

The coils feature a porous quartz plate. While this provides good heat distribution, the porous quartz can become clogged over time, affecting performance.

To ensure optimal coil performance, it is recommended to clean the coils after each use. This will prevent wax buildup and you will not have to thoroughly clean the coils as often.

You'll know your dab pen coil needs cleaning when it starts to weaken, has a burnt taste, or produces erratic vapor.

How to clean dab coils quickly?

Clean quickly:

1. Set the Fifth Ave Green House Vape to the highest voltage setting.

2. Clean the walls with the rounded side of a cotton swab and wipe up any excess wax.

2. Press and hold the button on the atomizer for 10 seconds to fully heat the coil.

This will burn off any excess wax in the coil and prevent it from hardening and clogging the porous quartz in the atomizer coil. Depending on the amount of excess wax, you may want to repeat step 2 a few times.

3. Use a cotton swab to wipe around the inside of the coil to remove any wax residue.

How to clean dab coils thoroughly?

Complete cleaning:

After using the coil for a long time, wax will accumulate inside the coil and discolor the quartz plate. This wax can clog the quartz inside the coil and reduce the effective heating area, which in turn reduces the efficiency of the coil. The wax buildup will also start to burn and can cause a bad taste when vaping.

Depending on how frequently you vape and what waxes you use in the coil, you may need to do a full cleaning after several vaping sessions.

Around 40 minutes

Necessary items:

To clean your atomizer you will need:

Small nylon brush/Q-tips/cotton swabs

91 to 99% isopropyl alcohol (cleaning alcohol)

Wet wipes or paper towels

Container for storing your atomizer

To perform a complete cleanup, follow these steps:

Remove the spool from your device.

2 Wipe off excess wax

Wipe off any excess wax from the coil using a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol. Wipe down the walls as well and wipe up any excess wax.
Wipe the outside of the coil with a cloth and some isopropyl alcohol.

3 Soak the coil

Place the coil in a bowl of rubbing alcohol (90% + isopropyl alcohol) for 30 minutes.

4 Wipe outside

Remove the coil from the alcohol. Wipe the alcohol off around the outside of the coil.

5 Wipe the inside

Carefully clean the inside of the coil with a cotton swab. Do not apply pressure to the quartz plate as this may damage it.

6 Let dry

Allow the coil to dry completely. This may take a few hours.

7 Heat the coil

Screw the coil back onto the Fifth Ave Green House atomizer and turn the atomizer on (5 clicks). Set the voltage to the highest setting. Then heat the coil 3 or 4 times. This will burn off the excess residue from the coil.

Why do you need to clean the coils of your dab pen?

There are a few important reasons why you need to clean the coils of your dab pen:

  • You will be able to better enjoy the flavors of your concentrates.
  • You won't get that unpleasant burnt taste that occurs when too much resin builds up inside the coils.
  • This will keep your coils working longer and save you money on coil replacements.
  • Cleaner coils reduce the strain on the battery because your pen doesn't have to heat up as much to vaporize your concentrates.
  • Clean coils vaporize your concentrates more efficiently, saving you money on concentrates.
