How to clean a grinder

How to clean your grinder and get high at the same time

A good weed Grinder is an indispensable accessory. It can save you time compared to ripping or cutting your herbs with scissors. Moreover, it can give you a better smoking experience because grinding makes the herb particles a uniform size, which means even burning, so you get better flavor and a stronger joint. But over time, kief and weed particles get stuck in the holes and other parts of the grinder, making them less efficient.

Resin can make your grinder sticky and difficult to turn, which is when you know it's time to give your grinder a thorough cleaning.

Boiling is a popular way to clean grinders – you can also get high doing it. For us, it's a win-win situation.

We'll show you how to clean your grinder and get the best results.

Can you boil your herb grinder to clean it?

There are different ways to clean a grinder.

One option is to soak the parts in isopropyl alcohol to loosen the plant residue and then wipe off the remaining material with a toothbrush.

There is nothing wrong with this method, but boiling the grinder is just as effective and offers advantages that cleaning with alcohol does not.

Attention: Boiling your mill is only possible with metal mills!!

Before you try to boil the grinder in milk or water, you should be aware that this method can only be used with metal grinders. Plastic or painted grinders can release toxins into the liquid when boiled. Boiling plastic or wooden grinders can ruin them.

Boil the mill in milk

As strange as it sounds, boiling a grinder in milk is a very effective cleaning method and produces a cool result.

You get a clean mill and the byproduct is THC-infused milk – perfect for a delicious cup of hot chocolate.

Here's how it works:

The fat in the milk breaks down and absorbs the THC onto the surface of the grinder. The simmering milk loosens any particles stuck to the grinder, making them easier to scrape out.

How to boil milk from the mill?

First, gather everything you need:

A dirty mill,

A water bath and a hob,

A sieve,

Milk – Whole milk is best because of its higher fat content.

If you are vegan, choose your favorite type of milk (cashew, oat, coconut or almond milk), but choose the high-fat variety instead of the low-fat one.

How to use a water bath

A bain-marie is a large pot partially filled with water. Inside it is a second, smaller pot into which you pour the milk.

The water in the large pot creates steam. The heat is transferred to the milk in the smaller pot, but more slowly than with direct heating. This prevents the milk from boiling and the sugar from burning and curdling.

Now we can begin:

1. Fill the bottom of the water bath halfway with water

2. Add milk to the top pot until it is half full.

3. Disassemble the grinder. If the grinder has a kief catcher, empty it into a container for safe storage.

4. Place the grinder in the milk.

5. Adjust the heat to medium-high.

Bring the water to a boil (the milk will begin to simmer). Reduce the heat so that the water continues to steam and the milk simmers gently. Do not let the milk boil or it will scald.

6. Heat the milk gently for about an hour.

7. Turn off the heat and let the milk cool.

8. Remove the parts of the grinder and wash them with soap and warm water.

9. Strain THC-infused milk.

So how do you get high by boiling your grinder in milk?

Having a shiny clean mill is nice, but that's not why we're here.

So let's answer that question. Drinking THC-infused milk won't get you super stoned, as the THC content is relatively low. A lot depends on how much kief and resin accumulate in the grinder. Adding leftover milk to your coffee or favorite beverage can be quite a high.

Is it safe to boil a mill in milk?

As mentioned above, you shouldn't try this with a plastic or painted mill. During cooking, toxins can leak out and contaminate the milk. Nobody wants to drink a large plastic drink.

You should also make sure that the outside of the grinder is clean so that no dirt or other unpleasant non-grass substances get into the milk.

If you follow these precautions, the milk left over after boiling and filtering should be drinkable.

Can you cook a mill with almond milk or other milk substitutes?

If you are lactose intolerant, vegan, or just don't like the taste of milk, there are several options. Almond milk can be used as a substitute. Be sure to choose high-fat dairy (3 grams per serving) to absorb as much THC as possible. You can also use this method to make your canna-almond milk.
