How Marijuana Can Help People Over 60 Date

It’s hard to catch up at any age, but over 60 you might need a little more help. Marijuana could be the answer.

Everyone’s favorite Bachelor franchise is launching a new show – The Golden Bachelor. ABC calls it a “whole new kind of love story, one for the golden years.” For men in the 65+ group, 21% are single, while for women in the 65+ group, 49% are single. Part of the inequality is that the life expectancy of women in the US or Canada is around 79 years, while that of men is around 73 years. But why shouldn’t people date and have a good time when you’re over 60? For the past 20 years, 60 is the new 50 and 70 is the new 55!

Gerry Turner, a 71-year-old Indiana grandpa, will star in the spin-off. As a grandfather and widower, he loves cucumber ball, sports and eating out. He’s just like the millions who want someone but don’t know how to start. Many believe too much that they are the first step.

Cannabis is one way to help people get started on the dating scene. Marijuana use among those over 60 is increasing, and some are finding it can help them get back on the dating scene. According to a 2020 study published in JAMA Internal Medicine, cannabis use among adults age 65 and older increased by 75 percent over a three-year period.

Here are some ways marijuana can help older adults start dating again:

  • Reducing Anxiety: Many older adults experience anxiety when it comes to dating, especially if they haven’t dated in a long time. Marijuana can help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation, making it easier to approach potential partners. It also takes away some of your worries during the first few dates and allows you to be more relaxed.
  • Boosting Libido: Marijuana has been shown to increase libido in some people, which can be helpful for those looking to get back on the dating scene. Intimacy can take many forms, and marijuana or medical marijuana can ease the transition to a physical relationship.
  • Pain Relief: Chronic pain is a common problem in older adults, and marijuana has been shown to be effective in managing pain. This allows for greater mobility and reduces confidence in being able to do things with a new person. A long walk, swim, etc. can make for great first dates. Better joint mobility makes eating out and other activities more enjoyable.
  • Providing a Shared Interest: For some older adults, marijuana use can be a shared interest with potential partners. This can be a great way to connect and bond with a new person

If you are not currently using marijuana or taking any medication, you should speak to your doctor to avoid mishaps. By reducing anxiety, increasing libido, relieving pain, and encouraging a shared interest, marijuana can be a helpful tool for older adults who want to connect with others. As they say in old age: Nothing dared, nothing gained. And a little edible when making decisions can help you face life with a fresh look.

Another reason marijuana can be helpful for people over 60 on the dating scene is because they have an open mind about new things. It puts them in a mindset that says they’re willing to try new experiences, including a new person to talk to, different activities, and ways of having fun never tried before!
