The Next Snoop Empire? – Cannabis on death row could be a goliath of the marijuana industry

Death Row Records has been one of the music industry’s most prestigious and culturally relevant platforms over the past three decades, with multiple records and historical artists topping the charts.

Today, Death Row Records is led by a new team with a robust management structure. The famous music empire was recently acquired by Snoop Dogg and has re-emerged as a cross-cultural enterprise spanning music, entertainment, fashion and cannabis, all connected by blockchain for the future generation.

To bring Death Row back to its former glory, all components of the record label are being updated to better serve the needs of modern audiences and their ever-changing tastes. On December 29, 2022, Snoop Dogg announced that Death Row Records, the legendary West Coast hip-hop platform that has hosted the likes of Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, Tha Dogg Pound, Nate Dogg and others have performed venturing into the world of cannabis play with Death Row Cannabis.

What types of loads can we expect? Death Row Cannabis will initially release a variety of OG strains such as Runtz, Tropicana Cookies, and Strawberry Gary. The first batch is presented in special edition metallic commemorative bags depicting the classic hooded prisoner seated in an electric chair. The same image can be found on the original Death Row Records logo.

The new depiction of the prisoner was created to reveal the cannabis brand, specifically for the Death Row Cannabis Drop. The main difference between the new logo and the old one is that the new logo has one hand free and smokes a huge turd. Also striving to offer the best cannabis strains considering the market competition, Snoop Dogg chose one of the best cannabis breeders to execute this drop.

Who Grows Cannabis on Death Row?

Death Row Cannabis is curated by the one and only powerful AK. Ak was specifically chosen for the drop by Snoop Dog himself. AK is well known for growing “fire” cannabis. His flair for selecting exceptional cannabis strains has earned him great approval from the cannabis community.

If you’ve been paying attention to the California cannabis landscape over the past few years, you’ve probably heard of Wizard Trees. In fact, you don’t even have to be in California to hear the Gospel of Wizard Trees. AK, the breeder chosen by Snoop, is known for his work with Wizard Trees in selecting, germinating and growing strains from breeders DEO Farms such as Studio 54, RS11 (or Rainbow Sherbert #11) and Shirazi. AK’s cultivation skills are hard to ignore.

AK is also the driving force behind the IYKYK brand SMKRS and the respected Vice President of Cultivation of TRP LLC. TRP LLC is the company that manages the majority of Cookies’ offices across the country, including their Florida facilities. Additionally, AK has earned a reputation for being an expert in growing Fire OG strains.

Death Row Cannabis, set to hit stores next week, doesn’t intend to keep its customers waiting. The brand will be announcing a specific date and location for its first drop shortly. Death Row Cannabis will be available for the first time on Monday, January 2, 2023 at select Cookies California locations in San Bernardino, Brentwood and San Diego, with additional locations and states to follow.

For more information on the debut release, you can follow Death Row Cannabis and Death Row Records on Instagram. The accounts showed a branded pre-roll tube and shared an animation of Death Row Records’ logo. Kevin Gilliam, nicknamed DJ Battlecat, provided the soundtrack for the teaser video directed by MylarMen.

Snoop Dogg and Death Row

Death Row Records established itself in cannabis culture before launching its own cannabis brand. During its heyday in the 1990s, the label released some of hip hop’s most legendary cannabis-friendly records, such as Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle and Dr. Dre’s The Chronic.

At their peak, Death Row Records artists were larger than life. They practically defined an era, particularly the West Coast G-Funk sound that has often been imitated but never recreated. “For over 30 years, Death Row Records has reigned as one of the music industry’s most culturally significant and iconic platforms with countless chart-topping and pioneering musicians,” the label said.

Today, Death Row Records is under the rule of Snoop Dogg. ASnoop Dogg bought Death Row Records on February 10th, prior to the release of Death Row Cannabis. Snoop Dogg explained at the time that it felt good to be in control of the label where he started his career. He has a vision to revolutionize the record label for the new era and the launch of Death Row Cannabis is a positive step towards making that happen.

Snoop is also no newcomer to the cannabis market. In fact, Leafs By Snoop was among the first celebrity endorsed cannabis brands in the United States when it launched in 2015. Before Leafs expanded into Canada in 2018, Leafs targeted consumers in Colorado, the first state to legalize recreational cannabis use, next to Washington, DC

As the global marijuana industry continues to expand into a $20 billion sector, Snoop Dog has also invested in several other cannabis brands. His early support of Dutchie allowed the Oregon-based cannabis technology company to increase its capitalization to $3.75 billion in 2021.

Snoop’s personal smoking habit is also legendary. Earlier this year, 51-year-old rapper Martha Stewart, his co-host at the Potluck Dinner Party, revealed that he smokes up to 25 joints a day. However, the veteran smoker confirmed Larry Fitzgerald, Tom Brady and Jim Gray’s Let’s Go! Podcast a few weeks ago that a celebrity had smoked him out.

Conclusion

Death Row Records is making inroads into the lucrative cannabis market under the current leadership of Snoop, who recently took over the label. Signed to Death Row Records from the start, Snoop Dogg has always praised cannabis, particularly on records such as 2001’s The Chronic and The Chronic by Dr. Dre and on almost every Snoop Dogg album. As such, Snoop Dog’s previous investments and launch of Death Row Cannabis come as no surprise.
