CBD hasn’t helped people who get too high, study results show

CBD news and products keep coming our way, Leafly Nation, hot and heavy.

In the last 30 days, scientists found that a common CBD claim didn’t hold up, but cannabidiol helped opioid withdrawal.

CBD’s mainstreaming has also continued with a major sports deal. We’ve also found some new gummies, capsules, and tinctures we like—even one by Travis Barker.

Leafly rounds up everything that can be posted about America’s second favorite marijuana molecule (after THC) over the past month. Keep up to date with this important overview below.

Major League Baseball became the first major sports league to sign a sponsorship deal with a CBD company last month. On October 12, Charlotte’s Web became The Official CBD of Major League Baseball. The partnership coincides with the launch of the CBD company’s Charlotte’s Web SPORT Daily Edge tincture, a broad spectrum product (meaning the extract contains a range of cannabinoids from the hemp plant but no THC).

Barker Organic Gummy Bears

I feel that! God knows celebrities have flooded the CBD market with branded gummies, tinctures, and more. But we’ll have to leave it to Travis Barker, the heavily tattooed drummer for the (recently reunited) Blink-182: his broad-spectrum gummies stand out from many of the competition. While the lemony “Recovery” strain imparted a slightly plastic aftertaste, both the Green Apple Matcha “Maintenance” Gummy (10mg CBD and 10mg CBG) and the potent “Sleep” (10mg CBD and 10mg CBN) Gummy bears boasted a full-bodied taste and a pleasantly dense chewing base.

Infinite Focus Pods

Sometimes we like to take our CBD in capsule form: no sugar, no flavors, no mess. I recently came across this exciting line of Colorado’s Infinite CBD. The Focus products – also available in gummies and tincture forms – contain 18mg of CBD isolate (which means the extract contains no other cannabinoids and 2mg of CBG). Most notably, the Focus products also each contain 25 mg of 5-HTP, a compound that research suggests may increase serotonin levels and, in turn, may help people suffering from depression or anxiety.

R+R Medicinal Tinctures

The good folks at my local pharmacy introduced me to this excellent Colorado brand. Their tinctures — made from their own certified organic hemp strain — pack a punch: 2500 milligrams of CBD per 1-ounce bottle. That’s over 40mg per dropper. (R+R also offers lower-strength tinctures.) Bonus points: The R+R candies even throw in free shipping in the US. R+R sells its tinctures in both full-spectrum (up to 0.3% THC) and broad-spectrum varieties.

What is the difference between CBD and THC?

Better late than never, Congress just sent President Biden a cannabis research bill that will make it easy easier to explore THC and CBD. However, there are plenty of caveats. For example, scientists cannot examine products directly in stores.

On november 1st Idaho will begin enforcing a ban on CBD and hemp products for pets. The policy has infuriated Idahoans, who, as you know, want their pets to live healthy, happy lives. I guess that’s what they meant by “limited government”?

On October 21st Hong Kong has officially banned CBD, putting it in the same category as heroin caine. In Hong Kong, that means up to seven years in prison. The policy will come into effect in December.
