How long does it take for weed to work?
It’s important to keep in mind that the amount of time it takes for weed to take effect varies from person to person due to three main factors. First, how quickly your body metabolizes cannabinoids like tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) determines the time it takes for the effects to be felt. This factor is related to your unique endocannabinoid system.
Second, the way you consume cannabis (your method of ingestion) makes a big difference in how long it takes for weed to take effect.
Finally, how empty or full your stomach is after ingesting cannabis, i.e. the amount you have eaten that day, can also affect the time it takes for the weed to take effect.
How long does it take to get high after smoking weed?
If you’re trying to determine how long it takes to get high after smoking weed, you should know that smoking or vaporizing weed (inhalation) is the fastest way to get high. When you smoke weed, THC travels through your lungs and straight into your bloodstream. From there, the high kicks in almost instantly, although it can last anywhere from 5-15 minutes and lasts 1-4 hours. While vaping marijuana produces a similar start and high to smoking, the psychoactive effects of vaping are often more powerful.
How long does it take to get high from edibles?
How long does it take to get high from cannabis-infused edibles? For new cannabis users or those who have only smoked or vaped weed before, you may be wondering, “How long does it take for edibles to take effect?” The time it takes for edibles to take effect varies a lot more than when you’re consuming weed smoke When you smoke weed, the first thing you feel is the effects of THC.
However, when you eat an edible cannabis you also get 11-OH-THC (11-Hydroxy-THC), a metabolite of THC that is formed when you ingest THC products orally. Since edibles have to be digested and processed by your liver before the active ingredients reach your brain, this process takes much longer. This means that you may feel the effects of edibles within 30 to 60 minutes, but it can take up to two hours for the high to kick in. While blood THC levels only peak 3 hours later, the high can last for more than 8 hours.

How long does it take to get high from sublingual cannabis?
We’ve talked about edibles and flower, but how long does it take to get high from sublingual cannabis? THC sublinguals are discreet and perfect for a range of wellness treatments. Sublingual simply means placing something under your tongue, where it immediately dissolves. The mucous membranes of our mouth are very permeable and are therefore ideal for the rapid delivery of substances.

If you’ve ever used Listerine strips, you have a general idea of what sublingual means in terms of rapidly dissolving a substance that is not swallowed. Cannabis sublinguals work similarly. Most commonly in stick or tablet form, this convenient delivery system has a quicker onset than edibles and tinctures (most tinctures are not held in the mouth long enough to be absorbed into the oral cavity). Sublingual weeds typically take 15 to 30 minutes to kick in compared to edibles, which take 60 to 90 minutes depending on the ingredients.
Another difference between edible and sublingual consumption is that sublingual cannabis bypasses the gastrointestinal tract. By dissolving in your mouth instead of eating or drinking, sublingual cannabis strips avoid the effects of “first pass metabolism” in your liver. In general, you should feel results within 15 minutes of placing the sublingual product under the tongue (not over it).
