Weed shops in Vermont open October 1st, here’s where to find them
After years of waiting, one of America’s 420 friendliest states is finally getting its own legal cannabis stores.
Vermont’s first state-licensed adult retail store is scheduled to open this Saturday, October 1st.
However, you may have to travel to find one. As of September 30, only three stores had been given the green light to open on October 1. Eventually there will be up to 100 stores that are licensed but it will be months before they open their doors.
Our business at Leafly helps people find cannabis. To stay up to date with store openings in your area, download the Leafly app and sign up for our Leafly newsletter.
We expect the state’s opening day celebrations to center around the CeresMED store in Burlington, which is expected to open for sale to adults at 9am on Saturday October 1st. Arrive early, dress for fall, maybe bring a chair and some snacks. The line will be long, but friendly and cheerful. Don’t forget to bring your ID – you will need it even if you are 101 years old.
Here are the stores licensed to open on October 1st.

Born in the Colombian Andes, Ana MacDuff worked as a management and IT professional for insurance and waste management companies before turning to cannabis. Josh MacDuff began his career in the insurance and credit union world before advocating for hemp farmers and retailers to find the insurance they need to be successful.
